Union Health Minister J P Nadda said NEET PG seats have been increased 127 percent in last 10 years. In 2013-14, there were 31,185 seats which rose to become 73,111 in 2024-25. He also said total number of medical colleges were increased by 98% from 2013-14 to 2024-25. The number of colleges were 387 in 2013-14 which increased to 766. NEET PG exam is conducted for admission to 26,168 Doctor of Medicine (MD), 13,649 Master of Surgery (MS) and 922 PG Diploma in 6,102 government, private, deemed/central universities. Candidates have to appear in the exam and qualify it with the minimum cut off marks as per the category. Thereafter, he/she will have to participate in the counselling process for seat allocation. Candidates have to register on the official website and declare choice for college and course for NEET PG counselling process. Seats are allotted based on choice declared, NEET PG rank, available seats, reservation fcator etc.
NEET PG 2025 cut off has been reduced in comparision to last few year cut off. The cut off is the minimum marks required to qualify for the exam in that particular caregory. Only candidates who score the minimum marks can participate in seat allocation process. The table given below contains the cut off for each category:

Yes. MCC has reduced NEET PG 2025 cutoff percentile as well as score for each category. NEET PG 2025 percentile has bene reduced by 7th percentile for general category and 0th percentile for SC/ST category. For general category revised cutoff score is 103.
MCC reduces NEET PG cutoff to fill vacant seats remain after starting two rounds. It is being said students who score top rank wish to get top branches and colleges and they do get usually in round-1 and round-2 NEET PG counselling. Once these coveted seats get filled, students have least chance to get them in remaining rounds. That is reason cutoff is reduced to encourage and make more students elligible for NEET PG counselling.

NEET PG Seat Allocation Process
NEET PG seat allocation process starts with online registration. Students ahve to register and declare choices online for seat allotment. Based on choice declared, seat availability, reservation factors, seats are allotted. It must be noted Medical Counselling Committeee (MCC) conducts seat allotment of 50% All India quota seats. For rest seats, respective state counselling bodies conduct counselling. Total 4 rounds of counselling is held for seat allotment. All rounds of counselling is held online except spot round. MCC releases separate seat allotment result for each round. The seat allotment result is uploaded online and candidates have to download it. After seat allotment, candidates have to report to respective institutes for document verification.

According to the past year data, the last round NEET PG closing rank for MD/MS admission at IUL Lucknow ranged between 508 and 8675 in the year 2025. The most difficult branch to get admission to was MD General Medicine and the most-the easiest one was MD Community Medicine.

Yes, for postgraduate medical courses like MD and MS, colleges accept NEET PG scores. For super-specialty courses, NEET SS is required. MBBS admission, however, is based only on NEET UG.

No. NEET-PG is mandatory for all MD admissions in India across all colleges, government, private, deemed, and central institutions. There is no alternative entrance exam or direct admission route for MD. Even foreign nationals of Indian origin need to qualify in the relevant entrance process.
