Top NEET PG Colleges: After exam, students want to know what are top colleges. NEET PG 2025 exam was held on August 3, 2025. NBE announced NEET PG 2025 result on August 19, 2025. Seats are allotted after counselling. 3 rounds of NEET PG 2025 counselling have already bene concluded for allocation of seats. Top NEET PG colleges with NIRF ranking helps students to understand which course they will get on particular score. It must be noted, qualifying NEET with minimum cutoff is necessary to participate in seat allocation process.

NEET PG Seat Increased by 39, 460 in 10 years

Union Health Minister J P Nadda said NEET PG seats have been increased 127 percent in last 10 years. In 2013-14, there were 31,185 seats which rose to become 73,111 in 2024-25. He also said total number of medical colleges were increased by 98% from 2013-14 to 2024-25. The number of colleges were 387 in 2013-14 which increased to 766. The table given below highlights increase in number of NEET PG seats in different academic years:

Q:   Which are the institutes that do not accept NEET PG scores for admission?
A: 

15 AIIMS including AIIMS New Delhi, PGIMER Chandigarh, JIPMER, Puducherry, NIMHANS Bengaluru, SGPGI Lucknow, and Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Trivandrum do not accept NEET PG scores. A separate exam is conducted for admission at these institutes, i.e INI CET. The exam is conducted twice in a year in computer-based mode.

Q:   How many seats are available in NEET PG?
A: 

NEET PG exam is conducted for admission to 26,168 Doctor of Medicine (MD), 13,649 Master of Surgery (MS) and 922 PG Diploma in 6,102 government, private, deemed/central universities. Candidates have to appear in the exam and qualify it with the minimum cut off marks as per the category. Thereafter, he/she will have to participate in the counselling process for seat allocation. Candidates have to register on the official website and declare choice for college and course for NEET PG counselling process. Seats are allotted based on choice declared, NEET PG rank, available seats, reservation fcator etc.

Q:   How much time is provided to join allotted college after seat allocation?
A: 

For every counselling round, reporting deadline is provided in the counselling schedule. Candidates can submit fees and report till the given deadline. Though candidates can report till last day, but they are advised to report before the deadline due to different schedule of holiday/working hours in various Medical Colleges/Institutes. Also they are advised to carry all original certificates and documents during reporting.

NEET PG Seat Allocation Process

NEET PG seat allocation process starts with online registration. Students ahve to register and declare choices online for seat allotment. Based on choice declared, seat availability, reservation factors, seats are allotted. It must be noted Medical Counselling Committeee (MCC) conducts seat allotment of 50% All India quota seats. For rest seats, respective state counselling bodies conduct counselling. Total 4 rounds of counselling is held for seat allotment. All rounds of counselling is held online except spot round. MCC releases separate seat allotment result for each round. The seat allotment result is uploaded online and candidates have to download it. After seat allotment, candidates have to report to respective institutes for document verification.

The required rank would depend entirely on which category the student belongs to. For the General AI category, a rank of at least 147188 is needed to be eligible for admission. Candidates can refer to the table below to know the maximum rank for each available course for this category.
