AICTE, IIT Madras, IIM Mumbai, and Extra C hosted the NICE 2024 Grand Finale. IIT Delhi won first place, and BITS Pilani Hyderabad Campus and SASTRA University became first and second runner-up respectively.

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), in partnership with IIT Madras, IIM Mumbai, and Extra-C, hosted the grand finale of the National Inter-College Crossword Expedition (NICE) 2024. IIT Delhi’s Harshul and Arush Utkarsh emerged as the champions, securing the NICE 2024 trophy. The first runner-up position was claimed by V.K. Sai Gayathri from BITS Pilani Hyderabad Campus, while the second runner-up spot was taken by Abhinav and Sahaana from SASTRA University, Thanjavur.

The awards were presented by the guests, with K. Sanjay Murthy (IAS), Secretary of Higher Education at the Ministry of Education, taking the lead. He awarded the trophy to the winning team from IIT Delhi, recognising their outstanding performance. Additionally, the dignitaries unveiled the calendar for NICE-2025.

The event was further graced by the presence of several distinguished dignitaries, including Shri S. Krishnan, Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY); Shri Vivek Kumar Singh, Chairman of RERA Bihar; Dr. Abhay Jere, Vice Chairman of AICTE; and Shri Raj Narayan from Extra-C. Their contributions were instrumental in the success of the ceremony.

AICTE Chairman, Prof. T.G. Sitharam, stated, "This initiative goes beyond honing students' mental agility and soft skills. It serves as a platform to disseminate knowledge about India's cultural heritage through innovative and engaging educational methods."

The National Inter-College Crossword Expedition (NICE) is an initiative aimed at enhancing the cognitive and soft skills of students in higher education. By harnessing the educational value of crosswords, NICE seeks to foster mental agility, critical thinking, and a greater appreciation of India’s rich heritage and traditional wisdom.

Q:   I am getting IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay for Chemical and IIT Gandhinagar for CSE. What should I opt for?

JEE Advanced cutoff 2024 has been released for Round 1. For IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay, the Round 1 cutoff for Chemical Engineering were 2207 and 2507, respectively for  the General AI category candidates. For IIT Gandhinagar, the Round 1 cutoff for CSE was 1576. So, to answer your question, IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay are always a good options as compared to IIT Gandhinagar based on thier NIRF ranking. For Chemical Engineering, both IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay are highly recommended as they have excellent faculty, research opportunities, and strong alumni networks. Also, Chemical Engineering offers you an opportunity to work in PSU, whereas CSE students don’t have that opportunity. On the otherhand, a CSE student have an opportunity to work in MNC’s with higher salary package even more than what PSU’s give. But since, IIT Gandhinagar has been ranked 18th in the NIRF Ranking 2023, you must consider its other aspects such as placement, ROI etc to take your decision.
