What is MH CET Law Exam?

MH CET Law (Maharashtra Common Entrance Test for Law) is a state-level entrance exam conducted by the Maharashtra State CET Cell. Through the entrance exam, law aspirants will be shortlisted for admission to 10,860 seats (excluding management intake) for the 5-year LLB program and around 16,420 seats for the 3-year LLB course programmes.

MH CET Law Counselling 2026

MH CET Law 2026 CAP comprises candidate registration, document verification, choice locking, seat allocation, and admission confirmation. The MH CET Law 2026 counselling process can be checked below

  • MH CET Law CAP Counselling Registration: Candidates who register for CAP Counselling before the deadline will only be allowed to appear in the process 
  • E-document verification: The documents submitted by the candidates will then be reviewed by the admissions team. Only those who finish this e-verification step can move ahead in the process.
  • Alphabetical Merit List: A list with all candidate names and details will be published by CET Cell. 
  • Grievance Submission: Candidates can raise objections within the deadline in case of any mistakes in the alphabetical merit list. 
  • Final Merit List: It will be released once all objections are checked. It will have the names of candidates who are selected for counselling and seat allotment.
  • Choose the college preference: Be very careful, as this is what will be considered while making the merit list and availability. 
  • Seat Allotment: Aspirants will get college based on their merit rank, category, and the options they selected during form filling.
  • Freeze and Float Option: Candidates will be given choice during each round to either 'freeze' the college allocated to them or 'float' to participate in next round.

MH CET Law LLB Result 2026

The Maharashtra CET Cell published the MHCET Law Result separetly for 3-year and 5-year LLB programmes on the official website. The MH CET Law 2026 scorecard consists of details of the candidates' names, normalised CET scores, CET Roll and Registration (or Application) number and attendance status. The MH CET Law Toppers List was released along with the result.

The CET Cell Maharashtra released the MH CET Law 2026 provisional answer keys for both 3-year and 5-year courses under the respective login of the candidates. Candidates can download MH CET Law 2026 Answer Key using the instructions given below

Section-wise MH CET Law 2026 Preparation Tips

Legal Aptitude and Reasoning: Legal general knowledge around Law domain and Judiciary in India. Do not memorize sections of IPC, or constitutional law; familiarise yourself with the basic rationale behind legal topics.

GK and Current Affairs: Make notes on General Knowledge topics and learn them regularly. Practice quizes or objective questions available online.

Logical and Analytical Reasoning: Master core critical concepts like Analogies, argument completion, drawing well-supported conclusions, Reasoning by analogy, etc.

MH CET Law Eligibility & Application 2026

The CET Cell released the MH CET Law Eligibility Criteria. Candidates can check the criteria below that they need to fulfill before applying for the exam.

Yes, you can study law without MH CET Law, but only if you apply to private or deemed universities that have their own entrance exams or direct admission process. MH CET Law is mainly for government and aided law colleges in Maharashtra. Other universities may accept scores from exams like CLAT or conduct their own tests for LLB admission.
