1. Ranking:

SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai has been ranked at no: 1 in the “Top 50 Private Engineering Institutes in India” by Times Engineering 2015, The Times of India. Subsequently, SRM University, Chennai has been ranked No. 1 in the “Top 25 Private/Deemed Universities in India” Survey conducted by Higher Education Review (HER) Magazine.

2. Location:

The college is located in the suburbs of Chennai. This proves to be beneficial when compared to other engineering colleges in the state or India. Also, the college is well connected by local trains to most parts of the city. It is very near to Vandalur zoo and has got a three star hotel inside the campus for Hotel Management students.

3. Cultural Diversity:

SRM University accommodates people with various diversities. There are people who speak Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Bengali, Assamese, Kannada, Malayalam, Oriya, Rajasthani, Gujarati, Konkani, Chinese, and a bunch of Nigerian languages like Hausa, Igbo too.

Though English is spoken usually on the campus, but you might end up listening to students who speak in Hindi, Tamil and s well.  Besides this, there are a number of Chinese students in the college who are supported by their government with scholarships. Few of them are over 40 who are extremely interested in studying.

4. Infrastructure:

The buildings at SRM are huge with an extravagant architecture for a college campus. The auditorium is one of the best with great acoustics. Hostels are well maintained. Students who do not mind spending some extra bucks can opt for international hostel where you are served continental breakfast in your room.

5. Girls to Boys Ratio:

Unlike the IITs, SRM has a better girl to boy ratio. Though the ratio is skewed with boys outnumbering girls, there are many girls around.

6. Campus Placements:

Every year, the University sets a record in campus placements. In 2016, SRM set a new record on the very first day with top four IT companies offering jobs to as many as 6064 students.

According to a B.Tech(IT) student, Akhilesh, who got placed in Amazon, SRM is synonymous with encouraging students in following their passion and enhancing their talents. He says, “Several opportunities were put forth to learn and improve myself in my favorite domains and this helped me gain a lot of hands-on experience, which was very much useful during my placement procedures. I sincerely thank the University for all the encouragement they have given me and the freedom to pursue my own interests apart from academics”.

Praising the Career Development Center at SRM, another student, Anish Samir Mashankar said, “The Career Development Center trained us well right from the first year to face the challenges of placement, starting from acing the aptitude exam to excelling the interview process. I am also grateful for efforts that the Placement Department took in helping us going through the processes a great experience."

7. Study Abroad Program(SAP):

SRM’s Study Abroad Program is much liked by students. According to Pranav Reddy, an Alumni of SRM, this program is the best ever in a country like India. He says, “ The SAP gave a chance for several students to study a semester in MIT, Harvard, UC-Davis etc. They have recently had MoUs with several other universities. Twining programs, Dual degree programs with institutions like Carnegie Mellon etc. What else do you want from a University which is much more easier to get in, than IITs, providing you an opportunity to study a semester in MIT”.

8. Research Facilities:

According to Reddy, if a student has a good idea about his or her research area, then college is always ready to fund any amount for it. He says, " Where do you think all the money goes which it gets from each student? Not just for buildings, they do fund awesome projects. During my undergrad, SRM built a nanosatellite and launched it from ISRO space station in Sriharikota. It spent crores on this project and a number of students are well placed and in premium institutions with this research experience. Few students went to NASA to participate in competitions. And college most of the time, funds at least half of the money spent, if a student goes abroad for presenting a paper".

No, it is not mandatory to appear in all three phases of SRMJEEE. Candidates can appear in any one, two or all three phases, depending on their choice. If candidates appear in more than one phase, the best of all attempted score will be considered for admission.
