HPCET 2026: Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU) has commenced the HPCET 2026 counselling registration process. Candidates can now register for HPCET counselling 2026 until final date, which is June 30. During HPCET counselling, candidates have to login and fill out their details, upload documents, and pay counselling fee. Selection of courses and colleges has to be done in order of preference. HPCET 2026 seat allotment will be announced online. Admissions will be done based on candidates' HPCET 2026 result.

HPCET is conducted as an annual exam to select students for BTech admissions. Students who qualify the entrance exam will be eligible for admissions into the participating engineering colleges of the state. However, the authorities will also accept students based on JEE Main and 12th class qualifying exam marks. Read to know more about HPCET 2026.

What is HPCET?

Himachal Pradesh Common Entrance Test (HPCET) is organized by Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU) to provide BTech/BPharm/BHMCT & BSc/MTech/MPharm/MSc/MBA/BBA/MCA/BCA admissions into the participating institutes of the state. HPCET is held offline i.e., as a pen-and-paper-based test at various exam centres. BTech admissions are also offered based on JEE Main and 12th standard qualifying examination scores.

To be registered for HPCET counselling 2026, qualified candidates can now log in with required details. After logging in, they will have to update their details, upload documents and pay required fee. Candidates will also have to choose their colleges and courses in order of preference. HPCET 2026 counselling registration fee has to be paid through net banking/credit card/debit card. The authorities will announce HPCET seat allotment 2026 result online. Candidates will be allotted according to their merit and preferences. HPTU also accepts JEE Main scores and 12th standard marks for admissions. Once allotted, they will have to confirm their admisison before last date.

HPCET result 2026 has been released. Candidates can now download HPCET result 2026 at himtu.ac.in. HIMTU will not use any other mode to release result. Through the HPCET result, candidates can check their scores obtained in exam. No requests to make changes in the scores will be accepted. HPCET 2026 merit list will be prepared according to performance of the candidates in the exam. Qualified candidates will be able to register for counselling.

HPCET 2026 Syllabus

HPCET 2026 syllabus has been released. Through official HPCET syllabus, candidates can check subjects and topics that has to be studied for examination. Level of HPCET syllabus will be similar to 12th class qualifying exam. Before starting exam preparation, students should become familiar with syllabus so that they can prepare a study plan. HPCET 2026 Application Form

HPCET 2026 registration has ended. Candidates had to fill all correct details in online HPCET application form 2026. They also had to upload their documents and pay required fee. After last date, no applications were accepted. Candidates had to pay required fee through net banking/credit card/debit card. All of the submitted details had to be valid and correct. Unregistered candidates will not be eligible for exam.

To fill online application form of HPCET 2026, candidates had to follow steps given below.

  • Click on application form link.
  • Candidates had to register with required details.
  • Once registered, they had to fill online application form with their personal and academic information. Candidates also had to choose their preferred centres.
  • Scanned documents had to be uploaded correctly.
  • HPCET 2026 application fee had to be paid online.

HPCET 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates can take a look at the eligibility criteria required for admission to BTech programmes through HPCET. Before registration, the candidates had to check the official eligibility criteria carefully. Those who fail to meet the eligibility criteria are not considered for admission into the participating institutes.

BTech (Direct): The candidate must have passed class 12th or its equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/ Biotechnology/Biology/ Technical Vocational subjects securing at least 45% marks (40% in case of candidate belonging to reserved category) in the above subjects taken together.

Basic admission criteria for BTech programmes:

  • In case the seats remain vacant after exhausting the merit of JEE (Main) and HPCET, the remaining seats will be filled up based on the merit of the 12th standard examination conducted by a recognized Board or University.
  • The number of seats remaining vacant after taking admission based on each test/examination will be shifted and filled based on the next text/examination in continuous order.

Note: The % indicates the marks obtained by the candidate in the entrance test/10+2 examination out of the total marks assigned to the entrance test/examination.

HPCET 2026 Admit Card

HPCET 2026 admit card has been released. Registered candidates can access HPCET 2026 hall ticket online at official website. To log in, they will have to use their User ID and password. Through admit card, candidates can check their allotted centre, date, timings, guidelines and more. While reporting to their allotted exam centre, they had to bring a print out of their hall ticket along with a valid ID proof. Without these documents, they were not considered eligible for exam.

HPCET 2026 Answer Key

HPCET answer key 2026 has been released. No login details are needed to download HPCET answer key, as it is available in PDFs. Using answer key, candidates can calculate probable secured scores. Final answer key has been prepared after checking all objections submitted against provisional key. HPCET result will be prepared based on final answer key.

To raise objections against provisional key, candidates had to submit objections personally as written complaints to Controller of Examinations, H.P. Technical University, Gandhi Chowk, Hamirpur -177001 or through email to arsecrecy[at]gmail.com. Along with objections, supporting proofs also had to be submitted.

HPCET application fee for SC/ST/BPL category candidates is INR 800 and other category candidates will pay INR 1,600. If candidates fail to pay the fee, then their application will be rejected.

Q:   Do I need to study the entire HPCET syllabus?

Candidates should prepare for entrance exam using entire HPCET syllabus. Since question paper will be prepared using topics of syllabus, it will help students if they are familiar with official syllabus. Some important topics can also be selected and students can focus on them more.

Q:   How can I register for HPCET?
A: 

Candidates can register for HPCET online. During registration, the candidates have to provide their basic details. A password also has to be generated for future login.

Q:   What are the tips to create a personalized timetable for HPCET?
A: 

While preparing the timetable for HPCET, students should divide official syllabus and topics so that they cover everything before exam. Mock tests and revision should also be included in timetable.

Q:   Is there a tie-breaking rule for HPCET result?
A: 

Yes, the authorities do prepare tie-breaking rules in case two or more candidates secure the same marks in HPCET or the qualifying exam. In such situations, firstly, the candidates who have a higher HPCET score in Physics will be ranked higher, followed by Chemistry. In case the tie still remains, then the qualifying examination marks will be taken into consideration for allotment of ranks. Finally, if the tie does not break, then the candidates who are older in age will be allotted the higher rank.

Q:   Which documents have to be verified during HPCET counselling?
A: 

While reporting to the allotted colleges to confirm their admission through HPCET counselling, the candidates will have to present certain documents for verification. If the candidates unable to present their documents for verification, then they will not be able to confirm their admission. The list of certificates to be presented for verification are listed below.

  • HPCET/JEE Main/12th standard result
  • 10th standard mark sheet
  • 12th standard mark sheet
  • 10th standard pass certificate (for age proof)
  • Caste/category certificate (if applicable)
  • School leaving certificate
Q:   Do I have to attempt all questions in the HPCET paper?
A: 

In HPCET, students are advised to answer as many questions as they can. Since there is no negative marking, students will raise their chances of scoring well if they answer all questions. HPCET exam will have 150 objective questions.

Q:   Can I present a soft copy of ID proof at HPCET exam centre?
A: 

HPTU authorities will not accept soft copies of ID proof at exam centre. While reporting for exam, candidates will have to bring their original valid ID proof along with HPCET hall ticket to the centre for verification.

Q:   How will I know the HPCET seat allotment date?
A: 

HPCET 2026 seat allotment dates will be announced soon. Allotment of seats will be done as per candidate's rank and preferences.

Q:   I have a HPCET score. Do I need to pay the counselling fee?
A: 

Candidates with valid HPCET score will not pay counselling fee. They can register and fill out their choice of colleges and courses in order of preference, without paying fee. Only those who are applying with their JEE Main/12th standard qualifying exam scores need to pay counselling fee (INR 1,600 for General and INR 800 for Reserved Category). The fee should be paid online i.e., through net banking/credit card/debit card.
