In 2026, SET will be conducted in two phase, i.e. Test 01 and Test 02. According to the previous year SET analysis and student's reactions, the difficult level of the exam is easy to moderate in both sessions. No, after the SET exam is cleared, candidates had to go through for further selection procedure conducted by the participating institutes. The SET scores are accepted by the ten prestigious institutes of the Symbiosis International (Deemed University). Candidates need to meet the cutoff criteria of the participating institutes to take admissions. The admission process included Written Ability Test (What), Group Discussion (GD), and Personal Interview (PI). Other factors such as academic record, work experience, etc. were also considered for admission to various institutes which accept SET scores. SET score is only the first parameter on which the candidates are shortlisted for admission. The institutes first shortlist the candidates for What, GD and PI on the basis of their SET scores, marks obtained in Class 10 and Class 12. For the final selection, the institutes take SET scores, performance in GD/PI, What, Class 10 and Class 12 marks, work experience, academic diversity and gender diversity into consideration.

IPMAT is usually considered a bit more difficult than SET, as IPMAT exam has advanced mathematics and is calculation intensive. The exam also have a sectional time limit. But, SET is easier in terms of difficulty, does not have negative marking or sectional timings.
