Great experience overall, with supportive teachers and a lively campus.
Placements: Out of around 93 civil students who registered, about two thirds 66% landed a job. Placements are decent but not 100%. The highest package is 65LPA this is an outlier, usually non core. The lowest package is around 6LPA. The average package is around 18 to19LPA. Big tech & non core companies like Google, Microsoft, Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, etc., and core & infra side such as Larsen & Toubro (L&T), Tata Projects, Adani Group, Afcons, NBCC, and HPCL/ONGC., visit. Many civil students actually take non-core jobs in tech, finance, and consulting, but core recruiters do come. IITG students together got 230 PPOs pre placement offers from internships. Typical internship companies are Google, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, L&T, Tata Projects, Schlumberger, Adani, TVS, HPCL, etc.
Infrastructure: In civil engineering, we have all the labs and classrooms we need, with Wi-Fi and a great library to study from. I live in the Siang hostel. The rooms are decent with LAN and Wi-Fi, and the mess food is okay, with the canteen for variety when we get bored. The campus has a 24/7 medical center, so health is not a worry, and sports facilities are really good. Grounds, courts, gym, and even a swimming pool are available. Overall, its a pretty comfortable place to live and study.
Faculty: Most of the professors in civil are really qualified and quite helpful if you reach out, though, like anywhere, some classes feel more engaging than others. The curriculum itself is solid and covers the basics well, but to be honest, if you really want to feel industry ready, you need to back it up with internships or extra skills outside the classroom. Semester exams are usually on the tougher, concept based side, but they are not impossible. If you study regularly, you can manage fine, and almost everyone passes, probably around 90% or more.
Other: I chose Civil Engineering because I want to become an IES officer in the future. The best part of the course is that it gives a good foundation through labs and projects. What I feel could be improved is adding more industry oriented training. Campus life is lively with big fests like Alcheringa and Techniche, a friendly crowd, and a beautiful location by the Brahmapur. The hostels, sports facilities, scholarships, and extracurricular activities make student life comfortable and balanced.

It is a nice place with good vibes and makes memories to always be remembered.
Placements: Definitely more than 90% of students get placed every year, and the rest students opt for higher studies or choose other career paths. In the CSE, students rarely opt for other non-tech profiles, and students majorly focus on SDE, quantitative, developer, etc., roles. Few students go for embedded roles as well. The average package offered is more than 30 LPA.
Infrastructure: We do not have restricted internet. LAN points are present in every hostel room. The campus's main buildings have centralised Wi-Fi known as IITG-Connect, and we can log in through our ID and ERP password. Internet speed is mediocre. Each hostel has an AC library and gym of its own. There is a big central library and a gym for the whole campus. Classroom infrastructure is way beyond what we will see in other tier 2 colleges. There are canteens in every hostel. There are 10 boys' hostels and 3 girls' hostels on campus.
Faculty: Faculty members are genuinely always helpful, and we just need to approach them well. They are mostly always open to help. Courses are surely relevant after the renewal of the syllabus, and more relevance will be achieved by this year. Making industry-ready is something the students also must focus on and gather their skills to stand out to the public.
Other: There's a fest for every board and every genre. The biggest and the best cultural fest, named Alcheringa is organised in January to February. Then comes Techniche, the tech fest during September. Our college also organises a sports fest named Spirit and a welfare fest named Prayatna.

It's not just a college but second home.
Placements: The placement percentage based on 2024 data is around 64.% It is a decent percentage as many of the students opt for further studies and other streams other than campus placements. SDE is the top role and is more beneficial for CSE and MNC students. Other branch students can have core placements too as per their interests.
Infrastructure: There is college Wi-Fi overall campus except hostels. There is Wi-Fi in each room inside the hostels. The network quality is really good. Medical facilities are very good and are available 24 hours including ambulance facility. There are courts for every sport and well-maintained by the gymkhana.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and always open to any kind of issues. The frequency of exams is manageable. The difficulty of exam is dependent on the course instructor. Some are really strict but mostly are good. They connect real-life problems with the subject which makes students focus more.
Other: I opted for this course as I was interested in maths in my 12th grade. The college is really good and the course too. Fests and events are next level. Everyone is friendly in their own way.

IITG Civil: Great for core careers, need self-learning for industry skills.
Placements: Placements are decent here. Particularly in civil engineering, more than 70% of students got placed. The highest package is 69 LPA whereas the lowest package is 6 LPA offered in the core sector by L&T company. In the core sector, L&T offers packages to a lot of students but you can also apply for tech/product sector jobs. Top recruiters are Google, Microsoft, Flipkart, etc. Very few students got on-campus internships from my course, mostly in tech or product sector. Around 20% of students got on-campus internships. Some got into big companies like Adobe and BCG. Top roles offered are software developer, machine learning expert, data analyst, data scientist, etc.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is amazing when it comes to administrative buildings, academic buildings, libraries, and food courts. Hostels are not so good, most of the hostels are too old. Talking about the mess, food is decent. Canteen food is also so good. Our campus is largest and it has facilities for almost all the sports including cricket, basketball ground, kho-kho, tennis, volleyball, and a gym also. Some of the hostels also have private gym and there is a central gym too. All classrooms are accommodated with air-conditioners, and it has a good Wi-Fi connection. There is Wi-Fi available in all the academic/administrative areas and also in library and labs.
Faculty: The civil engineering program at IIT Guwahati has strong faculty with PhDs from top institutes, though teaching quality varies. Some professors explain concepts well while others expect more self-study. The curriculum covers all core subjects thoroughly but feels slightly outdated for industry needs, so students often learn modern software and practical skills through internships or online courses. Exams are challenging but manageable, with most students passing easily. Scoring above 8 CGPA requires consistent effort since grading follows a relative curve. Overall, it's a good choice if you want a solid technical foundation.
Other: I chose this course because I wanted a solid technical base that could open doors to government sectors. The annual fests Alcheringa for cultural events and Techniche for tech are always highlights. There are plenty of clubs for music, robotics, and startups if you want the campus itself is beautiful but a bit cut off from the city, though buses and auto make it manageable. It is near the Brahmapur River so it has nice view. Scholarships help many students, both merit-based and need-based. I'd briefly say that SC and ST category has 0 tuition fees. Annual income <1lakh -0 tuition feels and annual income between 1-5 lakhs have 33% tuition fees

It is one of the finest campuses. It has satisfactory placements.
Placements: Placements of last year were above average since many companies had a recession. Still, 70% of students get placed. The same goes for internships. About 30-35% of students got internships. The highest package offered was 56 LPA. BPCL hired 6 students last year with an average package of 20 LPA.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is very impressive. Wi-Fi works in the academic blocks but is not that good in hostels. The hostels offer the best mess food and the quality is also getting better day by day. Many sports clubs are active on the campus and the facilities are also quite good.
Faculty: Faculty members of our department are mostly chill and give good grades irrespective of our attendance. Some teachers are strict in case of attendance but do not fail anybody for having less attendance. Courses are very interesting and the labs too. We can pass exams with good grades if we attend classes daily.

    Professors are not that good.
Placements: The percentage of students placed is about 78%. The lowest package is about 7-8 LPA, while the highest is 3 Cr. Google, Amazon, and many more chemistry-related companies are among the top recruiters. Most of students get internships, and they intern at the same companies listed above.
Infrastructure: There are many good facilities available here, like there is good Wi-Fi facility the entire campus, well-maintained labs, some classrooms that are good while others feel dead, a very large and nice library, and an environment that is very good for study.
Faculty: Teachers are not that helpful, instead, teaching assistants TAs are helpful, but sometimes the TAs can be rude. They are qualified, but we don't know on what basis. The semester exams in almost all IITs are kind tough, as it is their hierarchy to make it tough.
