GATE 2018 exam commenced on February 3 in online mode. The exam, which is being conducted by IIT Guwahati, will be further held on February 4, 10 and 11 for 23 papers in eight sessions. The exam is a gateway for admissions to ME/MTech and PhD programmes offered by IITs, IISc, NITs, GFTIs and other universities across India.

Each paper in GATE 2018 is three hour long and will comprise of 65 questions each. The paper will be a total of 100 marks where students are required to answer Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions.

GATE-2018 Paper was more or less on the same lines as GATE -2017 paper. There were some changes in weightage across sections. This year we saw Strength of Materials had more questions than last year. Students of other streams can expect such changes in their streams as well. We expect cutoff to remain same like GATE-2017.

No, GATE is not a mandatory entrance exam for all PhD admissions at NIT Jalandhar. Candidates who are qualified for direct admissions at NIT Jalandhar's Engineering PhD courses are require to clear it during ME/MTech admissions.

No, candidates who are applying through their GATE score are not required to appear for the Written Test conducted by IIIT Bhubaneshwar for M.Tech admissions. No, GATE is not a mandatory entrance exam for securing admissions at IIIT Bhubaneshwar. Candidates who fail to secure a GATE scorecard can still appear for the IIIT Bhubaneshwar M.Tech entrance exam which includes a written test. The syllabus of this written test is the same as the GATE.

In GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) official answer key, MTA stands for Marks to All.

"Marks to All"  states that the marks allotted to that question will be given to all candidates who attempted that particular test paper.

No, both are the same in difficulty level. GATE is conducted for 30 papers, while JAM is held for seven papers. The difficulty level of IIT JAM and GATE varies from paper to paper. To score good marks, students must focus on the exam syllabus and high-weightage topics.
