JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Topper Interview: Bhavesh Patra
Q: Congratulations on your JEE Main 100 Percentile. How do you feel?
A: I feel like it is a dream come true. I really worked hard for this so it feels really good.
Q: During JEE Main preparation, who were your biggest supporters?
A: My parents motivated me a lot during my JEE Main preparation. Whenever I got less marks in mock tests, they encouraged me and were supporting me through all of my ups and downs. My coaching institute teachers were also very supportive of me throughout my preparation journey.
Q: Did you have any specific routine that you followed for JEE Main preparation?
A: While I was preparing for JEE Main, I made sure that I still got a good sleep. I prepared a routine so I was able to sleep for at least 7 hours every day. The rest of my day was spent on studying and preparing topics from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
Q: Was revision your main focus a day before the JEE Main exam?
A: A day before the JEE Main exam, I made sure to relax and sleep at least 8 to 9 hours. I believe a sound sleep is important to have a fresh mind during examination. I also did not check the notes much, and just revised lightly before sleeping.
Q: Tell us some of your study hacks for JEE Mains 2026?
A: Consistency is the key. It is important to regularly revise what you have studied so that you get good results in the end.
Q: Any tips on how to balance studying for PCM?
A: During my 11th standard, I was completely focused on PCM. But due to some reason, I was a little behind on my preparation during my 12th. Since Chemistry had become one of my weak subjects, I started giving more time to it, as compared to Mathematics. However, for other students, I would suggest that they should give more time to Mathematics, then Physics followed by Chemistry.
Q: How did your coaching institute help you with your JEE Main preparation?
A: My coaching institute helped me a lot with my JEE Main preparation by providing correct materials and mock tests. Regular tests helped me to improve my performance. Modules by Allen were enough, but if I needed extra preparation, then my teachers gave me extra assignments.
Q: Any advice you would like to give to students preparing for JEE Mains?
A: If you are at the beginning stage of preparation, then give equal time to all subjects. As you progress, start focusing on your weak areas and give it more time. To improve your weak topics, solving mock tests regularly really helps.
Also try to clear your doubts by yourself. If you are still not able to solve it, then you should approach your teachers. After every mock test, it is important to analyse your performance and review it with your teachers. If you focus on mistakes, then you will automatically be able to raise your scores.
Q: What word of advice would you give to students who get stuck on tough questions in JEE Main?
A: If you find the paper difficult, then it is difficult for everyone. Personally for me, if I got stuck somewhere, I closed my eyes and made a mental plan to attempt a number of questions from each subject. By the end of the exam, I tried to solve more than the total number of questions I had planned to attempt from each section.
Q: Are you preparing for JEE Advanced 2026 now?
A: After JEE Main, I took a break for a few days and then started preparing for JEE Advanced. I have been attempting a lot of mock tests. Right now, I am managing between board exams and preparing for JEE Advanced.
