NTA Score Meaning: What is NTA/Percentile Score?
NTA score is the percentage of candidates they have scored equal to or below (same or lower raw scores) that particular percentile in exam. For example, 99 percentile will indicate that the candidate has scored better than 99% students who attempt the exam session. To convert marks into a scale of 100 to 0, a formula is adapted to make the calculation. It is to be noted that NTA score is not equivalent to percentage of marks secured in exam. NTA scores are used to allot ranks to candidates after both JEE Main exam sessions are held.

Is NTA Score and Percentile Same?
Yes, NTA score and percentile are same for JEE Mains. Candidates will be able to check their NTA score (percentile score) through official result. NTA will not release details regarding their marks scored in exam. Since every exam shift will differ in terms of difficulty, result is declared in the form of normalized NTA score to ensure fairness to all. Through JEE Main score card, details on subject wise and overall percentile score can be checked. If both exam sessions are attempted, the best NTA score will be considered for rank preparation.
How is NTA score calculated?
NTA has a fixed formula to convert raw scores into NTA score or percentile scores. A normalization process is used to calculate JEE Main percentile score for both sessions. For calculation, information such as raw scores and number of candidates in the exam session will be required. Subject wise and total raw scores are converted into percentile scores using formula given below.
What is the validity of NTA score?
NTA score is valid only for one academic year. Candidates will have to use their NTA score for admission in the same year as the examination. The scores cannot be used for next admission cycle. Candidates will have to reattempt next year’s examination, if they wish to apply for admission in the next admission cycle.
