Steps to check JoSAA round 1 Seat Allotment 2021
The authorities will conduct six rounds of JoSAA seat allocation on the basis of students’ rank in exams, categories, selected preferences and availability of seats. Students need to follow the below-given steps to download the provisional seat allotment letter:

Step-1: Visit the official website of JoSAA 2021
Step-2: Click on the link – “JoSAA Round-1 Seat Allotment”
Step-3: Login using the required credentials
Step-4: Click on the “Submit” button
Step-5: After successful login, JoSAA 2021 round-1 seat allotment letter will be displayed on the screen
Step-6: Download and take a printout of the allotment letter
Before releasing the JoSAA round-1 seat allotment result, the authority conducted two mock seat allocation rounds. The mock rounds helped candidates to understand the process of allotment and also alter their choices of colleges and courses according to their ranks. Candidates must not miss the last dates of seat allotments otherwise their seats will automatically be cancelled.
What after JoSAA Round-1 Seat Allotment 2021
After the first round of seat allotment, candidates have to choose any of the one options out of Freeze, Float and Slide. Students can check the explanation of these terms in detail below:
Freeze: This means that candidates have accepted the offered seat and are content with the allocated academic program. They do not want to participate in further rounds of seat allocation. Such candidates will NOT be considered in subsequent rounds of admission
Float: This means that candidates have accepted the offered seat and that if admission to an academic program of better/higher preference in any institute is offered, they will accept it. Else, they will continue with the currently accepted academic program. Such candidates will be considered in subsequent rounds of admission.
Slide: This means that candidates have accepted the offered seat and that if admission to an academic program of better / higher preference is offered within the same Institute, they will accept it. Such candidates will be considered in subsequent rounds of admission.
Note:
- For aspirants who choose the float or slide option, allocation of a seat in a better/higher preferred academic program would automatically result in the forfeiture of the seat accepted by them in the earlier round.
- Slide and float options are only for those candidates who are not offered admission to their first preferred college or course.
- Slide and float options are NOT available in the last round of seat acceptance.
- However, in the last round last, of JoSAA seat allocation, candidates will be allowed to change from float to slide/freeze and slide to freeze by reporting at a reporting centre.
JoSAA round-1 seat allotment results will be announced for admission of candidates to BTech and BArch programs offered at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), National Institute of Technology (NIT), Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) and Government Funded Technical Institutes (CFTI). JoSAA will conduct six rounds of seat allotment for students. Students will be able to check their round-1 seat allotment results by clicking the above link.
The aspirants who have passed JEE Advanced will only be eligible for admissions to IITs and aspirants who have passed JEE Mains will be eligible to apply for NITs, IIITs and GFTI admissions.

JoSAA Counselling is for government/NIT/IIT-level colleges, you need a JEE Main/Advanced score, seats are allotted by the government, fees are lower, and the process is centralized and merit-based.
