IMU CET Application Form 2026: The Applications for IMU-CET 2026 are now open. Aspiring candidates can take their first step toward a dynamic and rewarding career in the maritime industry. To do so, they will have to register for Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test (IMUCET) from its official website imu.edu.in. Candidates seeking admission to the August 2026 batch must qualify IMUCET. To apply for IMUCET, they will have to register before the last date which is April 24, 2026.   • Finish Basic and Detailed Registration; the application is only valid after non-refundable fee online payment.
  • Double-check all entries. Once submitted, no changes are allowed
  • Have scanned copies (JPEG/PDF) of photo, signature, and class 10th/12th marksheets ready for upload.
  • Enter exact marks. For example - 59.6% cannot be rounded to 60%.
  • Reserved category candidates must ensure their community is on Central List to avoid rejection.

Registration on the official portal

  • Visit official website of IMU and click on the IMU CET registration link.
  • Fill out basic details like name, contact number, and email ID.
  • Create a password of choice.

Fill online application form

  • After the registration is done, fill out the online appliction form in detail.
  • Add personal and academic details wherever asked.

Uploading scanned images

  • Upload scanned documents of photograph and signature as per prescribed format.
  • Scan required documents and upload them in online form correctly.

Paying application fee

  • Candidates have to pay the requisite fee.
  • The fee is to be submitted using the available online payment modes.

Final submission

  • After the fee is paid, candidates can check the dashboard for printing the online form.
  • The online filled-in form must be downloaded for the candidates' reference.
  • Do not send the printout to IMU.
Important: The candidates who wish to apply based on CUET scores for UG (except BBA) are not required to register for IMU CET and should apply later during Spot Counselling registration for UG Programmes (except BBA).

IMU CET eligibility for 4-Year B.Tech (Marine Engineering) – Residential

Criteria

Description

Educational qualification

  • 10+2/equivalent (PCM-Average: Minimum 60% and a minimum of 50% marks in English subject in 10th / 12th Examination).
  • Marital status – Unmarried.

Age Criteria

Maximum age: The reference date for the calculation of the age will be 01.08.2026.

  • For Males: General-25 years, OBC (NCL) - 28 years, SC/ST-30 years
  • For Female: General-27 years, OBC (NCL) - 30 years, SC/ST-32 years.

Relaxation

For SC/ST candidates: There will be a 5% relaxation in eligibility marks of PCM; however, it will not apply to English Marks. A relaxation of 5% in English marks will apply to candidates who are natives of the Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar Islands and belong to their Scheduled Tribes and who & both of whose parents were born in those islands & belong to the Scheduled Tribes of those islands.

Medical conditions

 

Physical Fitness: Candidates seeking admission to this Marine Engineering Programme must be medically fit including eyesight and hearing as prescribed in the Merchant Shipping (Medical Examination) Rules, 2000, as amended.

Eyesight:

  • There shall be no evidence of any morbid condition of either eye or of the lids of either eye which may be liable to risk of aggravation or recurrence.
  • Candidates must possess good binocular vision (Fusion faculty and full field of vision in both eyes). Movement of the eyeballs must be full in all directions and the pupils should react normally to light and accommodation.
  • Normal colour vision shall be tested by Ishihara Test Chart. Distance Vision unaided 0.5*(6/12) in each eye or 0.67*(6/9) in the better eye and 0.33 (6/18) in the other eye.

 

Medical certificate requirement

At the time of admission, candidates will be required to produce a certificate of medical fitness issued by doctors approved by the Directorate General of Shipping.

IMU CET Application Correction Window

For IMU CET 2026, correction policies are limited once final fee is paid. According to official instructions, keep following rules in mind: 

  • After final submission and payment, no changes are allowed.
  • If students make a major mistake, the only solution is to re-apply using a different email ID and mobile number and paying fee again.
  • Those who applied as "Result Awaited" can typically use Edit Panel later to update their actual Class 12th marks and upload the mark sheet.
  • If candidates submit multiple forms, the latest successful registration is considered for the exam.
  • Any limited edit options are only available until the April 24, 2026 deadline.

Q:   Who can apply for the IMU CET form?
A: 

Anyone who is minimum 17 years of age and have obtained 10+2/equivalent PCM Average with minimum 60% and minimum of 50% marks in English subject in 10th or 12th Examination) can apply for UG course.

For PG course anyone with BSc / BTech degree in Mechanical, Civil, Naval can apply for various programme offered under PG courses.

The University offers Tamil Nadu BC/MBC Scholarship of amount ranging from INR 50,000 to 60,000 and Maritime Training Trust (MTT) scholarship for Indian women seafarers for amount of INR 1,00,000.

Scholarship 2

There is also scholarships to Zilla Kalyan Office, UP amounting INR 50,000 and District Welfare Office, Saharsa, Bihar amounting INR 75,000 and to Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited, Dehradun amounting INR 48,000.
