What is IMU CET?
The Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test (IMU CET) is a national-level aptitude entrance exam for admission into the first year of the full-time undergraduate professional marine degree programs across India. The exam is organized and conducted by the Indian Maritime University (IMU), a central university under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. Unlike standard academic tests, it measures specific core competencies, nautical concepts, general sea-faring aptitude, English verbal accuracy, and physical standards. The Indian Maritime University (IMU) has 6 Campuses at Navi Mumbai, Mumbai Port, Kolkata, Visakhapatnam, Chennai, and Kochi. Admission to various courses at IMU and its affiliated colleges is based on IMU CET only.
Additionally, qualifying for IMU CET with an official national rank is an essential statutory mandate to seek admission into any IMU-approved maritime campus, affiliated government institute, or private DG Shipping approved academy across India.
