- The JEE Advanced 2026 exam has been conducted for admission to the BE/BTech course. The results for the same will be announced on Jun 1, 2026.
- The JEE Main 2026 session 2 result has been announced on the official website for IIT Roorkee admission to the BTech, BArch and BPlan courses.
- The GATE COAP 2026 seat allotment results for round 3 have been released for admission to the ME/MTech courses. Candidates can choose to accept & freeze, retain & wait, or reject & wait by May 27, 2026 (till 9 AM).
- The IIT JAM 2026 first admission list has been announced for admission to the MSc course. Students have to pay the seat booking fee by May 30, 2026. Also, the window to opt for either an opening or closing withdrawal option will be open from Jun 3, 2026, to Jul 3, 2026.
- The CEED 2026 results for the MDes programme have been released. Students can access and download their scorecard until Jul 31, 2026, by logging in to the official website.

In the Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme, a student gets his/her tuition fee waived as per the following criteria.
Full Tuition Fee Waiverβ Offered to the most economically backward students having a family income of less than INR 1 LPA during the previous financial year or current assessment year.
2/3 Tuition Fee Waiverβ Offered to economically backward students having a family income in the range of INR 1 LPA to INR 5 LPA during the previous financial year or current assessment year
The Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme is available only for the normal duration of the programme. For dual degree programmes, it is available only up to the 4th year.
For admission to IIT Roorkee courses, students must pay various fee components included in the IIT Roorkee fee structure. The last year 2022 cutoff ranks for Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) at IIT Roorkee other than General category are - 5783 for OBC, 3162 for SC, 1382 for ST, 2804 for EWS. While the admissions are based on the scores/rank obtained in JEE exam, the last cut offs also change a lot depending on All India quota or Home State. It also varies if the applicant is a female.

In the year 2015, the highest package offered was 25 Lacs per annum and the average package was 10.55 Lacs per annum. This year the highest placement for ECE is 16 LPA. MBA is the flagship programme of DOMS IIT Roorkee. Candidates need to meet both eligibility and selection requirements to get admission. The MBA admission process at DOMS IIT Roorkee is as under:
- Candidates must apply for CAT by the last date
- On clearing the required CAT cutoff, candidates are called the for PI round
- Final selection is done on the basis of the final cumulative score, which takes into account past academic record, performance in PI and work experience (if any)
To get admission in IIT Roorkee MSc, students have to appear for the IIT JAM exam. Students have to then particpate in centralised counselling through which seats are allocated. Selected students have to report for verification of documents and pay the admission fees to complete the process.
CAT exam usually takes place in the month of November. The registration has starts from August and the last date of application is auntil September.
IIT Roorkee admission to its flagship courses BArch and BTech is based on JEE Main and JEE Advanced Counselling. For admission, students are required to apply for both JEE Main and JEE Advanced for admission to IIT Roorkee BTech. The aspirants must fill out the application form for JEE (Main) through the official website of the National Testing Agency (NTA) (nta.ac.in).
Followed by JEE Main, students are required to register for JEE Advanced. Next, candidates have to fill in the registration form, upload scanned certificates, and pay the application fee. The photo and signature in the online JEE Advanced application form will already be populated from the JEE Main application form.

The IIT Roorkee application 2026 process is conducted in online mode. Below are the IIT Roorkee Uttarakhand application process:

No, to get admission at IIT Roorkee for the MBA/PGDM course, students have to first attempt the CAT entrance examination and attain a valid percentile. Those students who clear the cutoff are then eligible to move to the second round of admission, which involves PI (Personal Interview).
Students who clear both these stages are then eligible for admission to the management course offered at IIT Roorkee. According to the previous years' estimated IIT Roorkee MBA cutoff 2025, the required percentile was 95 for the General AI category.

The tuition fee waiver / concession in IITs and NITs are as follows:
For GEN and OBC students having annual family income less than Rs. 1 Lacs and all SC, ST & PwD students: 100% tuition fee waiver. Only fee in other heads like exam fee, hostel and mess fee, gymkhana fee, etc., need to be paid.
For GEN and OBC students having annual family income between Rs. 1 Lacs and Rs. 5 lakh: 2/3rd waiver in tuition fee. Only 33.33% of tuition fee need to be paid.
For GEN and OBC students having annual family income above Rs. 5 Lacs or those students who are not desirous of obtaining fee waiver or have not submitted income certificate: Full tuition fee need to be paid.
If a student wants to join the IIT Roorkee BTech or BSc programme, then appearing for JEE Advanced is mandatory. Students have to clear the JEE Advanced cutoff and participate in counselling to get a seat. However, for any non-BTech/ BSc programme, JEE Advanced is not required. Students may submit alternate exams instead.
No, students can not get admission in IIT Roorkee MSc with GATE scores. The institute accepts IIT JAM score only. No other tests including GATE are accepted. Students also have to appear for the centralised counselling to get a seat.

IIT Roorkee is a government owned public technical university recognised as an Institute of National Importance under the Government of India. It was founded originally in 1847 & later converted into IIT in 2001 it is fully funded & governed by the central government which acts as seventh established IIT.

No, it is not easy to get admission in IIT Roorkee. Students have to get high scores in accepted tests. The competition is also very high for all programmes, but especially for BTech. With IIT Roorkee being one of the top Engineering institutes of the country, the cutoff is high too. To get admission in the institute, studets have to work extra hard and crack the exams.
IIT Roorkee is not considered very expensive relative to private institutions, but it is costly. The course fees of numerous programs fluctuate from INR 1,000 - 10,70,500, depending on the selected course. But it offers great placement opportunities to its students.

No, students do not have to apply separately at IIT Roorkee website after JoSAA counselling. This is because the institute follows a common admission process for its BTech course just like the other IITs. IIT Roorkee cutoff 2025 was released for admission to the MBA course for various categories. The cutoff was published in the form of opening and closing percentiles. No, you cannot apply for B.Des programme at IIT Roorkee even if you have cleared the UCEED Entrance Exam because Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics are compulsory subjects in 10+2. But you can apply for B.Des programme at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad and IIT Indore.

IIT Roorkee doesn't offer PhD in Design course through CEED. It only offers a MDes in Industrial Design.Β Admission to the M.Des programme will be based on CEED 2026 merit rank. The candidate will have to apply directly to the participating college once results are declared.
