CLAT Marks 45: Expected Rank, Top NLUs & Best Non-NLUs options

CLAT Marks 45: With 45 marks in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), the options for law colleges are limited. Students must check the best colleges with 45 marks in CLAT and make their preference accordingly. The 45 marks in CLAT give an All India Rank of around 15,000. Securing a seat in the top National Law Universities (NLUs) is highly challenging for general category students at this rank. However, students having category or state domicile quotas still have chances in newer or lower-tier NLUs with 45 marks in CLAT Exam.

Students must note that CLAT 45 marks are not sufficient for admission in NLSIU Bangalore, NALSAR Hyderabad, WBJNUS and other top colleges, especially for unreserved category students. However, there are some chances in NLU Assam, Jabalpur & Shimla in case seats remain vacant. For the OBC & EWS categories, there are not many chances of success. While talking about SC/ST candidates, though it is difficult, there are high chances of admission in the low-tier institutes.

Candidates can check the chances of admission to any of the NLUs based on the category below. Reserved categories have a clear advantage at lower scores due to category-wise cut-offs.

  • General Category

There is almost no chance of getting NLU under this category. Limited chance is in NLU Assam, NLU Jabalpur &  HPNLU Shimla. But the chance of admission in this NLU is also if seats are vacant until the last round.

  • OBC/EWS Category

Candidates under these categories have a very low chance of getting admission in NLU. Slightly better than General due to the reservation.

Commonly asked questions
Q:   How can I prepare for CLAT Exam?
A:

To prepare for CLAT Exam you need right books and good study plan. You must solve past-year question papers and mock tests.

Q:   Is CLAT syllabus difficult?
A:

The CLAT syllabus is considered challenging due to its comprehensive, passage-based nature. Candidates will have to solve the questions within two hour time limit for 120 questions. The syllabus is tough and exam is difficult to crack.

Q:   What is a bad rank in CLAT?
A:

A bad rank in CLAT is relative and depends on factors like your category, the NLUs you target, and overall competition. For general category candidates, ranks above 15,000 to 20,000 are typically considered weak, reducing chances of admission into top or even mid-tier National Law Universities. For reserved categories, the threshold might be higher, but still, a rank significantly above the cutoff range may be viewed unfavorably. Ultimately, a "bad rank" hampers your chances of securing a coveted seat and may force you to consider alternative law schools or reattempt the exam in subsequent years. Improving your score remains essential.

Q:   How can I get good marks in CLAT?
A:

To get good marks in CLAT 2027, focus on reading comprehension, daily current affairs, and consistent mock test practice. The exam consists of 120 questions, making speed and accuracy crucial. Prioritize Legal and Logical Reasoning, and use daily newspaper reading to boost your score in all sections.

Key Factors Affecting Admission at 45 Marks

  • Category reservation (SC/ST/OBC/EWS)
  • Domicile quota (State NLUs)
  • CLAT 2027 difficulty level
  • Number of applicants
  • Counselling participation & seat vacancy
