The reason is, the difficulty level of NEET was tougher this year as compared to last year. The competition level has become even higher, along with the increase in the number of seats.

What is a Good Score in NEET 2026?
A score of over 500 is generally considered good in NEET 2026 exam. A NEET score of 500 and above may get you a seat in top government colleges such as AIIMS, GMC and others. However, the NEET good score changes every year based on the cutoff scores fixed by the NTA. Generally, a score over and above the NEET cutoff is considered good and can get candidates admission to a good medical course.

NEET 2026 Counselling Process
Students who qualify the NEET exam can apply for admission to the medical colleges through the counselling process. Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) and State Counselling authorities will conduct NEET 2026 counselling. The admission will be done for 15% All India Quota (AIQ) and 85% for state quota. NEET counselling process involves registration, document verification, payment of counselling fee, choice filling, and seat allotment. Students are allotted seats based on NEET rank and availability of seats in the participating colleges. There will be four rounds of counselling. Candidates allotted seats have to report to the admitting institute with the required documents.
