Students who have passed Class 5 or Class 8 through the Maharashtra State Open School Board are eligible to register as private candidates for the SSC exam
The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has opened a new registration window for private candidates who wish to appear for the Maharashtra SSC, HSC supplementary exam 2025. This move aims to help students who missed the earlier registration deadline for the February- March 2025 board exams.
Maharashtra Board Exam 2025: Why New Registration Window Matters
According to the official notice, the Board stated, "Currently, only February enrollment is considered for private students to appear in the March examinations. However, many eligible candidates fail to fill the enrollment application within the deadline, resulting in a wasted academic year.”
To address this long-standing issue, the MSBSHSE is, for the first time, allowing private enrollment for the July-August session—providing such students with a vital second chance to sit for their Class 10 (SSC) and Class 12 (HSC) board exams in the same academic year.

The Board emphasized that all designated schools and junior colleges are available for enrollment, strictly as per Board norms.
Contact Divisional Boards for Assistance
Students, parents, schools, and junior colleges are encouraged to reach out to their respective divisional board offices for further guidance and clarification. The Board has made detailed instructions, eligibility rules, and registration guidelines available on its website.
The MSBSHSE urges all stakeholders to read the guidelines carefully to ensure a smooth and successful registration process.
The initiative reflects MSBSHSE’s growing focus on academic flexibility and student-centric reforms, particularly in a post-pandemic era where education systems are evolving. By allowing private candidates to enroll mid-year, the Board is preventing academic loss and ensuring wider access to education.
