The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay will host a one-day symposium titled “Pioneering the Future of Healthcare and Diagnostics Using 4D Omics” on November 12, 2024. Organised by the Proteomics Lab of the Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering (BSBE), this event will take place at the Convocation Hall from 8:15 AM to 7:30 PM, under the convenership of Prof. Sanjeeva Srivastava. The symposium will highlight groundbreaking advancements in 4D-proteomics and 4D omics, transformative fields set to revolutionize healthcare and diagnostics.
IIT Bombay Symposium on Future of Healthcare and Diagnostics Using 4D Omics
The symposium will explore applications of 4D Omics across key areas, including cancer diagnostics, where it provides enhanced insights into cancer progression for targeted therapies; maternal and child health, focusing on biomarker tracking to improve outcomes in maternal and pediatric care; and clinical wellness, utilizing time-based molecular data to support preventive health and wellness strategies.
Genomics offers the genetic blueprint, but to truly understand biological complexity, researchers are embracing proteomics, the large-scale study of proteins, for more precise diagnostics and therapies. Recent innovations in 4D proteomics, particularly with timsTOF technology, add a temporal layer to protein analysis, boosting sensitivity, selectivity, and speed. 4D Omics combines genomics, proteomics, transcriptomics, and metabolomics with a time-based perspective, allowing researchers to monitor molecular changes over time. This approach enhances biomarker discovery, sharpens clinical trial accuracy, and propels personalized medicine and more effective treatments.
