IIT Delhi Placement 2024-25 Begins: Over 1,200 Jobs, 741 Internships Offered Last Year

Exit survey reveals only 5% of 2024 graduates still seeking opportunities; PhD placements saw a 7x surge through a dedicated drive.

The much-anticipated placement season at IIT Delhi commenced yesterday, bringing a wave of excitement among students and recruiters. The institute, known for its academic rigor and talented graduates, is poised for another promising placement drive, building on the successes of the previous year.

Placement Season Highlights and Expectations

During the 2023-24 placement season, IIT Delhi achieved remarkable milestones:

1,222 unique job offers were extended to students.

741 unique internship offers were secured.

Participation in on-campus placements increased by 25%, with a six-fold rise in the number of PhD scholars securing offers.

To further cater to niche roles, IIT Delhi held its first-ever special placement drive for PhD scholars in June 2024, resulting in a seven-fold increase in PhD-specific offers compared to the previous year. Despite this success, most PhD graduates continue to be placed through off-campus channels, reflecting their preference for specialized roles.

As per a release issued, The institute's forward momentum is evident in its August 2024 exit survey, which revealed that only 5% of graduates were still exploring career opportunities. This cohort primarily consists of PhD scholars seeking post-doctoral positions abroad.

On the eve of the placement season, Professors R. Ayothiraman and Naresh Datla, in charge of the Office of Career Services (OCS), expressed confidence in the institute's preparations:

The number of graduates for 2023-24 grew by approximately 10%, with a 30% increase in PhD graduates.
