IIT Roorkee and NISE Forge Strategic Partnership to Boost Solar Energy Research and Development

In a significant step toward advancing India’s solar energy goals, the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE). This partnership aims to enhance research, education, and technology development in the field of solar energy, aligning with India’s National Solar Mission and broader goals for a sustainable energy future.

The National Institute of Solar Energy, operating under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), is pivotal in the National Solar Mission, focusing on solar technology research, design, and demonstration. The collaboration with IIT Roorkee establishes a framework for joint research and academic activities, encompassing the exchange of researchers, joint lectures, data sharing, and technology development.

This alliance is set to advance India’s renewable energy sector, leveraging the strengths of both institutions. Prof. Kamal Kishore Pant, Director of IIT Roorkee, emphasized that this partnership is a “milestone in IIT Roorkee’s journey towards contributing to India’s renewable energy goals.” Dr. Mohd. Rihan, Director General of NISE, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, noting that it will support the national agenda to expand solar energy adoption.

The partnership between IIT Roorkee and NISE is expected to yield innovative solutions in solar technology, contributing significantly to India’s transition toward clean energy and enhancing the nation’s energy security and environmental sustainability.
