Satisfied because of its teachers, good placements with good infrastructure, facilities, etc.
Placements: 90% of placements will be done on campus and remaining will be done off campus. Special placement training will done from 3 years of the college by department itself. It also provides value-adding courses for placements and we have communication training.
Infrastructure: We have good Wi-Fi facilities for all subjects like engineering, arts, and science. Medical, extra-curricular books, and course books will be available in SRM central library. There is a good laboratory with excellent infrastructure. In hostel, we have the best taste of food. College will be neat and clean.
Faculty: Our college provides the best coaching by Ph.D. faculty members. They interact and connect with the topic to the field. The course curriculum is relevant to industry. SRM provides industrial visits for 3 and 4 years students. 50% is pass percentage in the engineering field in SRM.

Poor placements for the 2024 batch.
Placements: Around 50% of the students were placed. A few companies came. Mostly, it was for biomedical sales. The two major companies were Capgemini and Johnson & Johnson. Mass recruitment did not happen. Many companies did not take any students. However, by the end, most people are somehow placed.
Infrastructure: Facilities are okay. Few are good and helpful. infrastructure is good. We have Wi-Fi and different labs. Hostel rooms are good. Food is average. Hostels are on the higher side price-wise. Wardens are unnecessarily strict with girls. They cannot go out of the room on holidays.
Faculty: Teachers are fine. Some are very knowledgeable. The course curriculum is okay. There are three exams. Semester examinations are easy. The pass percentage is 50%. 25% from internals and 25% from semester exams. Teachers mostly teach through PowerPoints. The curriculum is not up-to-date.

Our college can be a bit biased with north Indian students.
Placements: Mostly in our course, students opt for higher studies. Students who opt for placements get placed with a good package. Mostly Byju's and some core companies visit our college to hire students from our course who all our good in coding. Microsoft, Google, Infosys, etc., also visit our college for placements. A maximum percentage of students from our course got an internship in many labs and hospitals like Apollo, etc. If we know good coding, then the software engineer role is given to us, and the job is offered that way. Mostly if we want to proceed in our course, which leads to research, M.Tech or higher studies is required.
Infrastructure: The campus is huge. The infrastructure of our college is good. There are good instruments in labs. Wi-Fi facility is available to all students living on the campus, including the hostel. The hostel is very good. The hostel has every facility needed and given good treatment and taken care of. The mess serves average food. Some dishes are good, and some are not good in the mess. Medical facilities are available, and SRM hospital is just inside the campus. Every facility like games, gym, sports room, canteen, etc., are available inside our campus, and we don't need to go out.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are good. Most of the teachers are doctorates. There is a bit of difference as there are South Indian and North Indian teachers and their accents, but overall, they are good. Students are confident and guaranteed about placements from SRM. They make students industry-ready.
Other: I have chosen this course because I loved biology. It is an interesting course, and labs are way more interesting. I wish that subjects were given to us in a non-lengthy way and not forced on us. Coding is forced on biotech students at one point. Our college organises fests named Milan and Aarush for 4 days, and they are amazing. The campus is great and safe. Scholarships are given to worthy students after each semester. Many extracurricular activities are conducted, and you can take part and enjoy.

The faculty members were very knowledgeable in terms of their own specializations.
Placements: Most of the students in the course were placed. Few of the best placements happened directly in biomedical core companies like Medtronic and Siemens. The locations of such postings were also quite good. Most of the students who got placed had junior engineer or assistant engineer posts. The placements regarding the core companies are fair enough yet most of the students are seen going to standard IT companies as usual.
Infrastructure: Classrooms were quite big though different courses were held in different locations hence at times the classrooms seemed quite cramping too. The whole campus had a decent Wi-Fi strength and connection and thus, students sitting in classrooms could easily access the net. Library was sparsely used by anyone because everything is available on the internet. The facilities in the hostel were truly sub-standard in terms of food, lodging, sports, medical facilities, etc.
Faculty: The teachers in my course were really helpful starting from the course professors to the Head of the Department. All the faculty members were very knowledgeable in terms of their own specializations and the subjects which they taught and extra special care is given happily to those who have an extra belongingness for research and development activities. Most of the students thereafter become industry-ready.
Other: I had chosen this course for the sole purpose of studying something which was not directly MBBS but was attached to it from an engineering point of view giving myself a large room for innovating and creating things. If at all, I would want something about my course to improve, it would be the research related facilities and set-ups directed at our department. Other than that, events, connectivity and conferences were always there contributing to the overall gloom of the course.

Good infrastructure and facilities.
Placements: The placements are average in my batch. Most of the people are getting around 6-8 LPA, and some lucky ones are getting up to 25 LPA (Operations Manager in Amazon), so yes, overall the placements are on the good side. Top companies like Amazon, Flipkart, Accenture, TCS, etc. are coming to the campus.
Infrastructure: So SRM has top-of-the-line infrastructure and labs (for example, labs like the "MAC LAB" - it's a lab for high-end computing, classes have ACs), and as for hostels, they are pretty good. There have been no issues till now. There is water 24*7, high-speed Wi-Fi, cleaning every day, laundry service, etc. Mess food is also okay; some days it's good, some days it's not.
Faculty: The teachers are mostly passed out from top IITs or NITs, and some have even done courses from abroad institutions, and they are well-experienced. As for the curriculum, it needs to be revised a little more. As of now, the curriculum is updated but not enough to meet industry standards.
Other: I chose this course. SRM is one of the few top colleges that are providing this course, and as for campus life, there are fests and events going on year-round. There are lots of clubs one can join. Two major fests happen every year: one is MILAN, the cultural fest, and the other is AARUSH, the tech fest.

Q:   Is SRM University good for B.Tech?
A:

Here are some positive and negative points of SRM University:

Positive:

  1. Located in Chennai which is a metropolitan city. Three out of five campuses are located in Chennai
  2. You can have a lot of fun
  3. In KTR, there are a lot of opportunities provided to students to develop their profile like hundreds of clubs, teams like robocon, conrods, camber, and 4ze where students can build their own bots, cars and stuff. If you are really interested in your field then you can do anything in SRM
  4. Canteen facilities are excellent
  5. As far as placements are concerned, most students are placed in IT sector. Core companies also visit the campus but they select only one or two students. In a batch of 500600 students i.e. 1520 students are placed in core companies. But still that depends on your skills and we can’t blame the university for that.

Negative:

  1. The student to faculty ratio is too high.
  2. Faculty members are not very highly skilled, though they are postgraduates in their respective field. Most of them have completed M.Tech from other local colleges. There are very few from IITs and foreign universities.
  3. The curriculum is old.
  4. The evaluation system is also not very good.
  5. Very little research happens here. Most of the faculty members don’t have any publications
  6. Also, if you have a lot of money you can join in management quota into any branch you want. Almost half of the students have joined in management quota.

All the best.
