I went for the exam with a clear mind but when I entered the exam hall it was not as good as I had expected it to be. We all know that SSC has a problem in providing good exam centres but I still appreciate the efforts taken by SSC in providing exam centres says Arun Singh. Read to find out what other challenges he faced.

SSC conducted the CGL exam from 3rd March to 9th March. I must say, it was quite an experience for me and here, I am going to share it. My exam was scheduled for the 6th of March. I analyzed the previous shift before my exam, it was easy in the starting shift and became moderate after that. I hoped my exam would be easy to moderate. SSC has surprised us before in 2018 by creating a calculative and moderate paper. But what I believe is that if any exam is tough for one then it will be tough for other candidates too. So do not create negative thoughts in your mind, calm yourself and hope for the best result.

I went for the exam with a clear mind but when I entered the exam hall it was not as good as I had expected it to be. We all know that SSC has a problem in providing good exam centers but I still appreciate the efforts taken by SSC in providing exam centers. After all the attendance formalities, I was making my mind about how I will attempt the question, what section I will attempt first and other strategies. When the exam started, everyone was focusing on their screen.

I started with reasoning. This section is generally easy but this time it was moderate because some questions were easy and others were in moderation. Anyways, I spent too much time on reasoning which I generally don’t. I consider this section my strong point but time made me skip some questions. I went for English after that, it was easy to moderate again and it depends on what type of questions you face. Questions are easy if you have practised it before or difficult if you didn’t.

General Awareness section was good because I was prepared for this one. Current Affairs was easy and some questions seemed irrelevant but I skipped those and moved further. After this, I attempted Quants section and this section was comparatively easier than reasoning. It has formula based questions from advanced maths and simple concepts based questions from the arithmetic part. But I couldn't attempt all the questions because I wasted my time on the reasoning section. That’s when I realised that I shouldn't have wasted much time on the reasoning portion.

Overall, my exam was not very good but still I hoped to secure a decent score as I always focused on accuracy which got me selected last year too.

I learnt from my mistakes and I am right now focusing on the next exam. I promised myself that I will not repeat this mistake again. I would advise all the aspirants to never worry yourself for the result after the exam. What's done is done, you can not change that. So stop bothering and prepare well for your next exam.

No. The Tier 1 marks for the SSC CGL are not used in the preparation of the final merit list. The SSC CGL Tier 1 exam is qualifying in nature. Candidates are shortlisted for Tier 2 exam. However, the final selection and ranking is based on the marks obtained in the SSC CGL Tier 2 exam.
