Our college has excellent quality, resources, opportunities and infrastructure.
Placements: IIT provides the finest opportunities and resources. It depends on where you focus. In previous years, many students were placed. Only a few companies visit our campus. Internships and placements are guaranteed. One of the major problems our head of department told us about is that students in this branch don't take things seriously after getting placed and leave the company.
Infrastructure: Our department infrastructure is well suited for it. Our classes are equipped with projectors and all the other things that are needed. Wi-Fi is always good in all classrooms. The air-conditioning and fans are working properly. There is a central library with a huge number of books and five floors in it. It is very good, accessible, and calm. Our college hostels are good. In some hostels, three students share a room, while others have two, and some are single. Students here are very friendly and caring. Seniors are always helpful, but we have to approach them. They don't have time to interact with juniors.
Faculty: Our teachers are very knowledgeable, talented, and excellent in their fields. They expect more from students. If you do well and ask for help at any point during the course, they will appreciate it and assist you. The course curriculum is relevant. We are offered around 50% of elective courses.
Other: The campus life is excellent. When I go anywhere and return to campus, it seems like the best place. I didn't know about the course when I was in 12th grade. Sometimes, a communication gap occurs between students and faculty members. Students don't seek out help, and faculty members are not responsible for it. Our college organises events and festivals. The campus crowd is good. It is up to us to decide where we want to participate and what we want to apply for.

IIT Madras is NIRF#1 Rank college in india. It is a very beautiful green campus .
Placements: Placement is not a problem in IIT Madras. For Naval architecture and Ocean Engineering course, many students chose software related jobs. Average package offered is 10 LPA. There are many students who placed in cochin shipyard limited and other foreign companies.
Infrastructure: Hostel is very good. But nowadays they changed single room to double sharing and double sharing to triple sharing. Do there is small problem. But the rooms are enough. They are providing LAN. So we have no problem with internet access. There we have lift facilities and filtered (hot, cool, normal) drinking water in each section of each floor.
Faculty: It is very important to attend every classes if you want to score a high CGPA. You minimum needed 85% attendance to write exam. You CGPA will be calculated normally based on two quizzes and end sem exam. Some professors have different method for calculating total CGPA .
Other: There are many events in IITM. Shastra and saarang are two fests of IITM. IITM provides fee waiver for economically weaker students .

Review of IIT Madras, Department of Ocean Engineering.
Placements: Placements actually have different opinions. Even though people of this department learn core, most of them are interested in the non-core sector like consultancy, data analytics, coding, banking, and UPSC, etc. Most of them want to pursue masters in the non-core field. Around 85% of the students are placed every year. The college offer freedom to students to choose their career which is excellent. Around 70% of students got internships. Internships are mandatory for students in our department. If you are more interested in the core sector, it would help you.
Infrastructure: There are 2 banks in our institute, i.e., SBI, and Canara, and people often prefer SBI. There are two SBI ATMs; one is near Taramani, and the other one is near bank premises. There is a special ATM for students in the hostel management office. The college provides bus transportation facilities, and a bus is available every 15 minutes. It is the most beautiful campus. You can find colourful flora and fauna, black bucks, deers, and monkeys. There are 2 guesthouses. There are 2 schools on the campus. There are 2 shopping centres where you can find everything you need. Phoenix Mall is at a walkable distance. There is an open-air stadium where every Saturday a movie screening is done. There is a student activity centre for everything which organises fests and events. The college has around 30 clubs which helps you to find your own interests and develop in them. There are 3 temples on the campus. Ours is basically a mini-society of intellectuals. Even some Catholic mass meetings are conducted just outside NCC buildings. The entire campus is enabled with free Wi-Fi facility. There are world-class libraries, classrooms, and hostels. Regarding sports, you can find grounds, coaches, and many more amenities required to play. The college provides a world class gym and swimming pool for fitness. The college provides the best facilities in entire India. Hostel rooms were excellent but not air-conditioned, except that you can find everything as good. The food served in the mess is the best food of all IITs. I am not facing any issues regarding the infrastructure of the college.
Faculty: Faculty members at IITs are the best. Professors are more inclined towards their research, rather than classes. Our course curriculum is the best to explore. We have around 40% electives which you can choose to study. You will get a good industrial exposure as IIT Madras is an institute of national importance. Ocean engineering department in IIT Madras was incredible, and you will like it.

IIT, Madras is the top-ranked engineering college by NIRF.
Placements: The college is good, and it has 100% placement record. The college provides very good placement opportunities in all the major domains including finance, IT, etc. The placement office works hard to ensure that everyone gets placed. There are some Marque firms which exclusively recruit the students from IIT, Madras.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is great with a well-equipped library and a sports complex. It is one of the few IITs which has an Olympic-size swimming pool. The classrooms are air-conditioned and well-maintained. The library has all the necessary subscriptions.
Faculty: The faculty members are well-qualified and knowledgeable. They teach us very well. The course curriculum is appropriate and is regularly updated. The course followed is world-class. Many guest lecturers visit the college, which raises the scope of learning.
Other: The college organises many cultural, technical and departmental fests.

IITM: a glance of the campus life for a student.
Placements: When it comes to the placements in the institute, they were really good. The placement operation is handled by the placement team, by a group of students. They give us instructions, resume review sessions by seniors to make the placements happen. Almost 90% of the students sitting for placements get placed. These numbers include the students who do their M. Tech or MS or PhD as all of them will be sitting for the placements at the same time. Highest package offered in the institute was about 100000 USD per annum, this time, from the institute placement. I am not sure of any offers which came off-campus. Lowest salary is usually around 600000 INR per annum. Average usually is approximately 1200000-1500000 INR per annum. Some of the companies visited would be: Uber, Samsung, Microsoft, Rovigo, Schlumberger, HSBC, Goldman Sachs, Deloitte, Citi, Cochin Shipyard Ltd., Amadasoft, Google, Airbus, Xerox, ITC, Hindustan Unilever Ltd., Wipro, DE Shaw, Cleanmax Solar, Wright Nanosystems, Reliance Industries, Vodafone, Caterpillar, Noodle Analytics, Indian Register of Shipping, Ernst&Young, Texas Instruments, Nvidia, Visa, American Express, Nomura, P&G, and many more. The roles offered were in the fields of the respective companies ie: finance, FMCGS, data analytics, Software Development, electrical engineering, Core roles in mechanical, naval architecture, civil, aeronautical, electrical etc. 70-80 percent of the students got internships including the research internships. Highest stipend offered was around 2.5 lambs per month, lowest was 6000 per month, and the average was around 25000 per month.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available in public spaces like the library, auditoria, etc. In the hostels, you don't have WiFi but LAN ports are there which offer you super fast internet connection where you can connect your own routers. Labs are all with state of the art facilities. Most of them are air-conditioned, with basic facilities on board. The library is fully air-conditioned and has WiFi. It has a computer centre which any student can use for academic purposes. There are a lot of books, both from academic and non-academic fields, like course books, novels, dramas, etc. Medical facilities are free on the campus for basic ailments, thanks to the health insurance. For serious issues, the patients may be moved to hospitals with a superior facility. Any kind of sport is open to all the students, which ranges from Frisbeeing to Football. Most classrooms are spacious, many of them are air-conditioned and others are not really that warm. All rooms have projectors and Internet connectivity to the main computer. There are a lot of canteens in the campus, most of them are open in the morning and remain open till midnight. Some remain open 24*7. Hostel rooms are shared for the first year and then you get single rooms. They have a fan and a lot of plug points which can be used for appliances which have a current rating of 5A or less.
Faculty: The faculty is really good. You get to meet a free of the best minds in the country and in some cases, of the world, in different courses, projects and programs. Of course, there are really bad teachers too. All of the teachers are well qualified with an international reputation. On an average, the student-faculty ratio is about 50:1. The industry exposure is mandatory for the degree to be awarded to the student. Some make us think by ourself, where some make us memorise, and almost all the classes are interesting. The course content is decided by the faculty. The same course may feel different when taught by a different professor. Industry experience is mandatory for the degree to be awarded to the students. This should be done as an internship for a minimum of 40 days in the industry related to the department where the student is doing is B.Tech. The curriculum is mostly useful if you are into research and the core field. Most of the compulsory courses are not useful for moving into finance, analytics, consultancy etc.
Other: You get to have exposure in any of the fields of your choice. Let it be finance, programming, arts, music, dramatics, choreo, technology, sports, speaking, writing, academics, quizzing, you name it; you will find a club related to it. And if you don't find one of your choice, you can create one of your own. There is no curfew for students in the campus. You can go out anytime and come back anytime you wish. Also, you can't use powered vehicles on the campus. There are provisions for differently abled students.
