Who can participate in UCEED counseling?

The counseling process for UCEED will be conducted by IIT Bombay as a Joint Seat Allocation process. To participate in UCEED counseling, the candidate must have qualified in the UCEED entrance exam and been allocated a merit rank. This means that if the candidate has failed to qualify Part A exam, he or she will not be allocated a merit rank and, therefore, is not eligible to take part in the counseling process.

UCEED Participating Institutes 2027 - There are seven participating institutes of UCEED 2027. The participating institutes offer B.Des courses and have an intake of 245 seats. Admission to the course is strictly based on UCEED 2027 merit ranks.

The list of candidates for B.Des admissions for the academic year 2027- 2028 will be released for IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Indore, IIT Roorkee and IIITDM Jabalpur. A provisional seat allotment letter will be available for download in the candidate’s login after the seat acceptance fee has been successfully paid by those allotted a seat.

Candidates from any academic stream are eligible to apply for UCEED exam. However, for admission to IIT Guwahati, it is mandatory for candidates to have passed Class 12 from Science stream. The candidate needs to carefully go through the eligibility criteria before they apply. This is because the candidate will not be considered for admission to the B. Des programme even if they get a rank in UCEED if they don't meet the prescribed eligibility criteria. UCEED 2027 - Eligibility Criteria for admission

IIT Bombay will outline the eligibility criteria of UCEED on its admission portal - uceed.iitb.ac.in. The eligibility criteria pertain to the age limit, number of attempts, academic qualification, etc., that candidates need to meet for admission. If a candidate fails to meet these conditions, he or she will be disqualified.

UCEED 2027 Eligibility Criteria

Age limit - OPEN/EWS/OBC-NCL category candidates need to have been born on or after October 1, 2002. SC, ST or PwD category candidates must be born on or after October 1, 1997.
UCEED 2027 qualification - The candidate must have qualified for UCEED 2027 and obtained a merit rank.
Qualifying examination - The candidate must have passed all five subjects in the qualifying exam (10+2 or equivalent) in 2026 or 2027. Candidates who appeared in the qualifying exam for the first time in 2025 or earlier are not eligible for admission.

UCEED 2027 - JOINT Seat Allocation Process

The counseling for UCEED 2027 participating colleges is conducted by IIT Bombay in online mode as a Joint Seat Allotment process. Candidates who have qualified UCEED 2027 and will be assigned a merit rank in the design entrance exam can participate in the counseling process. Application to B. Des Programmes at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Indore, IIT Roorkee and IIITDM Jabalpur (Participating Institutes) will begin in the second week of March 2027.

The seat allotment process of UCEED 2027 will be conducted in five rounds. The seat acceptance fee is INR 60,000 for GEN/EWS/OBC-NCL category candidates. For SC/ST/PwD candidates, the acceptance fee is INR 15,000.

Since it is unlikely that there will be a baggage counter, the candidate can not afford to bring valuable items and leave it unattended outside the exam hall.
