Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras has revised GATE computer science and information technology syllabus (CSE) this year. Candidates who are planning to attempt CS paper this year, must be aware of GATE 2027 syllabus changes. In addition, a new paper named GATE Robotics and Automation (RA) has been introduced, which can be taken by CSE aspirants.
As per the exam structure, GATE 2027 CS paper will have two sections - Section 1 will have questions from General Aptitude and Mathematics for a total 28 marks. The remaining 72 marks questions will be from computer science topics.

GATE 2027 CSE Exam Pattern and Sectional-Weightage
According to GATE 2027 official notification, there are no change in the GATE exam pattern. The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering CSE paper consists of 65 questions. The GATE 2027 total mark is 100 and time-duration is 3 hours.

GATE Exam Pattern 2027 for CSE
Students can check GATE CSE exam pattern 2027 below -
- The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) will be conducted online, and the question paper will be in English.
- The test paper duration is three hours, and the total marks for the GATE exam question paper are 100.
- The marking scheme of the questions is 1 or 2 marks. For a one-mark question, 1/3rd mark will be deducted, and for a two-mark question, 2/3rd mark will be deducted.
- There is no negative marking for multiple-choice questions and numerical-aptitude test questions.

Yes, this year IIT Madras has revised the GATE syllabus 2027 for almost all subjects. Many topics and chapters have been simplified. Some chapters and topics have been removed.
- For CSE, major changes in syllabus have been made in COA, Digital Logic, and Computer Network
- For ECE, 90% of the syllabus remains the same. Few changes are made in the engineering mathematics, signals and systems, etc.
