What is GATE Exam?
GATE, otherwise called Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is a national-level engineering entrance exam in India. The exam is hosted by seven IITs and IISc on a rotational basis. No, GATE admit card in soft copy format will not be accepted at exam centre. Candidates appearing for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering must carry their hall ticket along with a valid ID proof and pen/pencil. The admit card must be printed on a A4 size paper with details visible clearly.
Candidates have to upload only photo and signature in GATE registration form.
The GATE 2026 topper will be released after the declaration of result. The authorities will publish the topper's list (AIR 1 ) of all 30 subjects.

GATE answer key is released after exam is over. The answer key released on Feb 22, 2026. It contain answers to the questions asked in test. Candidates can download answer key, response sheet, and question paper using enrollment ID and password.
The GATE provisional and final answer key are different. The GATE provisional answer key is released along with the response sheet. Through the provisional answer key, candidates will be able to raise objections. On the other hand, the final answer key is basically released after the review process, which is used for the GATE score evaluation. Candidates must note that the final answer key cannot be rechecked or raised for objections.
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering takes place once in a year. The national-level engineering entrance exam is conducted to offer admission to higher degree programmes, such as MTech, PhD, etc. This year (2026), IIT Guwahati is conducting GATE exam.
