Cracking an exam like JEE Main is one of the happiest moments in a person’s life but just think if you have topped in it. The feeling is beyond explanations. The same way Landa Jitendra was feeling when he came to know that he scored 100 percentile in JEE Main 2020.
Shiksha.com got his exclusive interview today where he shared the plans ahead for JEE advanced and further studies. Excerpts:
Q. What was your preparation strategy to get good marks in JEE Main 2020?
A. My coaching institute – Sri Chaitanya helped me devise a good strategy for the exam. They have taken care of everything. They told me what to study, how to study, what books I should refer to and what mock tests I should attempt to get good marks in the exam. I referred to the study material provided by the coaching and the NCERT books. The school and coaching helped me to manage well between board exams and JEE Main 2020 preparations.

Q. How did your parents help in the JEE Main 2020 preparation?
A. My parents were very supportive in JEE Main 2020 preparation. There was no extra pressure related to studies from my parents. However, they always encouraged me whenever I felt a little nervous. They were in constant touch with the teacher regarding my studies. My teachers guided them in developing a good environment to achieve a good result.
Q. Since when you have started preparing for the JEE Main?
A. I have started my preparation for JEE Main from class 8. At that time, the focus was on clearing concepts of all three subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The focus was on completing the school syllabus but it was also taken care of by the coaching mentors that we solve the problems that may help us in solving the questions that are of JEE Main level.
Q. How much you used to study daily? How did you keep yourself fit during the study period?
A. The daily study hours were around 14 hours as the syllabus was huge and I have to prepare for the JEE Advanced as well. To keep myself fit I used to drink a lot of water as it keeps my body hydrated and cushions the brain, spinal cord, and other sensitive tissues.
Q. What is your preparation strategy for JEE Advanced 2020?
A. I am preparing the same way preparing for the JEE Main. The only difference is that the difficulty level and type of problems are different in JEE Advanced 2020. The syllabus of the exam is also different from that of the JEE Main. I take care of all these things while preparing for the entrance exam.
Q. What will be your preferred branch and institute on qualifying the JEE Advanced 2020?
A. I am hoping for a good rank in JEE Advanced. My most preferred branch will be Computer Science Engineering (CSE) in the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay.
Congratulations on your success in JEE Main, may all your dreams come true.

With a 300 SC category rank in CAT, your chances for NIT Trichy MBA are relatively high. Based on 2025 data, NIT Trichy generally shortlists SC candidates with CAT percentiles around 60-65. To achieve a 300 rank under SC category, you would need about a 65-70 percentile, or a score of roughly 60-65

Honestly, going for CSE at Chandigarh University with your score sounds like a solid choice. I'm saying this because CU has become a hub for tech placements and internships, and the environment is pretty competitive in a good way. Your 88 percentile in JEE Main could also land you a scholarship, whi

Yes the SRMJEEE paper pattern is similar to JEE Main however, the difficulty level is not equivalent to JEE main and the question paper is adjusted to moderate level difficulty level which will be easy for most students.
