So, you have to consider all the aspects of dropping a year before actually dropping it.

Some major aspects you should consider:

1. Don’t do it due to some kind of pressure

There are some students who just drop one year due to the fear of their family and society. But you should be clear with your decision that you really want to do it or you are doing it due to some kind of pressure.

Which top college can you get with low scores?

There are a lot of colleges you can take admission into if you have a low score in JEE mains. If you have given other entrance exams like BITS, VIT, SRM then you really have the option to take the admission in these reputed universities. If you haven't given these other exams then you should try in some private universities.

How can you apply?

The procedure of applying to these universities is the same as the IITs. You have to first clear the entrance exam of these universities then you can take the admission according to your rank. Some other colleges are also there which give the admission on the basis of your JEE mains score.

Is it worth?

Yes, it is worth to take admission in other universities if you lack in grabbing IITs because these universities also have the potential to frame your future in a good way. And at the end, it is in your hands to actually make your future a bright one.

So, dropping a year is totally upon you and your interest in that particular college. In my opinion, you should consider other options first because after dropping, you don’t have the option to go back.
