Shrikant says, take a pause, understand that things aren't bad until and unless you haven’t taken lessons from mistakes.
Here the fact is that every one of us is familiar with this state. We either get totally depressed or try to move on or just do nothing. To be honest, it rather ruins our day and when the regret comes in, things get worse. I am going to share some tips, advice, and ways to deal with it.
Prerequisites
What is more important is that this exam be it an entrance exam like JEE Main which can decide your career path or a simple college/school exam would not be the last exam of your life. And in this world, as long as we are alive we change things. Just have a look at Albert Einstein, Issac Newton or Ramanujam, they weren’t great in their school days. But gradually they kept working on their skills or their talent. So take a pause here. It can’t be fixed because there is nothing to be fixed, you just need to understand that this isn’t bad until and unless you haven’t taken lessons from mistakes.

What should a student do next?
Just take a small break to give yourself a life. During that break, analyse those mistakes or blunders that you were making without realising it. Just be honest and unbiased. Take total responsibility like a hero, take a stand. That break should last 2 or 3 days.
Now what we can do after the exam is over?
- No need to panic, first of all, go easy on you. This is not the first time in history. Everybody fails, Junaid Ahmed (UPSC topper CSE AIR 3) wasn’t able to clear any Engineering Entrance exam and later he became IAS topper, but as per your logic, he should have dropped all kinds of hope. Right? No, he worked hard with discipline and proved his hard work. Just be okay.
- Analyse what were your mistakes? List them out, write them on paper, take the accountability of those mistakes.
-
- You were totally prepared on your end, then what went wrong? Maybe you weren’t at peace internally, you were worried about something. The nervousness came into play. Eradicate those factors, talk to a good mentor or teacher. Be open, no need to be shy. Talk to your mother and father about it, they are the best guides in the world.
- You were not prepared. In this case, study and practice in a more disciplined manner. Maintain a diary of your progress.
- Implementation of strategy- This is the most crucial step that you should be careful about. What are the psychological issues that you might have right now?
-
- Are you in a bad relationship? It doesn’t matter whether you are a boy or a girl. Fix it, if somebody isn’t able to understand that you are working for your goal, leave him or her. First protocol is self respect for your goal. Think of your parents, no need to fool yourself around. After a couple of days, you will move on and become more focused.
- Are you a lethargic person and lazy enough to ruin your career? You are not lazy but you don’t manage things or whatever you study. Stop doing that now. You need control over your life to be brave and stand up.
What after this?
Once you are emotionally strong and disciplined, I don’t have any need to preach to you about how to study and get back, just no need to be upset, life is all about the ups and downs. That bad exam was a day to teach you where you were wrong. Without falling, none of us has learned how to walk as a little baby.
