NEET PG 2026 Counselling Process
NEET PG counselling is conducted for admission to 50% All India Quota seats. MCC, the counselling body, will conduct four rounds of counselling for seat allotment. The respective State authorities will conduct counselling for the remaining 50% AIQ seats. The counselling process starts with online registrations and ends with candidates reporting to the allotted institute with all the documents. Seats are allotted based on choice filled, availability of seats in a particular institute, reservation criteria and other factors. The seat allotment result will be released separately for every round.

Candidates have to register online to participate in the NEET PG counselling. New registration is accepted for each round. Registered students will not have to make fresh registration for each round of NEET PG counselling. The process to apply for NEET PG counselling 2026 is mentioned below.

As DNB-CET was scrapped, admission to the post-MBBS DNB broad speciality courses is now based on the performance of a candidate in NEET PG. The counselling for DNB courses is conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE). Once seats are allotted in round-1, students have to select out of below given options to proceed for next round of NEET PG seat allotment.
Round 1 Counselling: Options to Choose
Option 1: This is termed as 'free exit'. The seat allotted to a particular candidate during NEET PG counselling 2026 round one gets automatically cancelled if he/she don't report to the allotted institute within the given duration of time.
Option 2: The candidate is satisfied with the seat allotted to him/her in round one of NEET PG 2026 counselling and reports to the allocated colleges within the given timeframe to secure the seat.
Option 3: Those who are not satisfied with the allotted seat in the first round can opt for the up-gradation of seats and participate in the next round of counselling. If a seat is not upgraded in the second round of NEET PG 2026 counselling, the seat allotted in the first round will be retained.
NEET PG 2026 Round-2 Counselling
The process for NEET PG second round counselling 2026 will be similar to that of the first round. In this round, new candidates who didn't participate in the first round will have to register and pay the registration fee. Those who have already registered during round one don't need to register again. But the choice filling is mandatory to every candidate, irrespective of the fact whether they declare the choice in the first round of NEET PG 2026 counselling.

NEET PG 2026 Round-3 counselling
NEET PG counselling round-3 seat allotment will be released online. Candidates who exited in counselling rounds one and two by not reporting to the college allotted to them will have to register for the NEET PG round-3 counselling 2026. Those who didn't get a seat in either round one or two of NEET PG counselling 2026 don't need to register again in this round. NEET PG 2026 Online Stray Vacancy Round Counselling
This is the fourth and tentatively the last round of NEET PG Counselling. Only those students who did not take admission in any of the allotted seats, be it in the AIQ or State Quota seat offers, or those who have not been allotted a seat so far, will be eligible to participate in this round. In case seats remain vacant after this round, then MCC will conduct additional rounds of counselling or the admission process.

NEET PG 2026 Seat Allotment
MCC releases the result of NEET PG counselling in the form of a seat allotment list. The result PDF comprises details of the candidate, rank secured, the course or the institute allotted to her/him, and remarks. After the registration process for the first round for NEET PG counselling, MCC will start seat allotment processing. Seats will be allocated based on the options filled by the candidates, their all India ranks, reservation criteria, availability of seats and other aspects. MCC will upload the NEET PG seat allotment list on its official website in PDF format.
