NIT Cutoff 2025: The round-wise NIT cutoffs 2025 for BTech branches have been released by the JoSAA admission authority. NIT Cutoff is the minimum rank the candidates must secure for admission to BTech courses. JEE Main cutoff for all NITs and courses is available on this page. The cutoff of NIT is released in the form of opening and closing ranks as per the candidate category. The cutoff scores of NITs will be different for all categories depending on various factors determined by the authority. All the engineering aspirants seeking admission into 31 NITs in India will have to score more than or equal to NIT cut-off scores.
Only the eligible candidates who have secured the minimum NIT cutoff marks can apply for admission to the respective institute as per their JEE Main 2025 ranks. National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts JEE Main twice. As per JEE Main 2025 exam date, the first session exam date was January 22 to 30 and the second session was conducted from April 2 to 8. Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has released NIT 2025 cutoff scores.

Factors determining NIT Cut off
NIT cutoffs are based on the following factors for admission to BTech programmes.
- Number of candidates applying for the exam
- Total number of candidates appearing in JEE Main exam
- Total number of BTech seats available
- The difficulty level of the entrance exam
- Previous year’s JEE Main cutoff trends
NIT Cut off for Admission
JoSAA releases the NIT cutoff scores in the form of opening and closing ranks. Candidates seeking admission into 31 NITs, have to appear in JoSAA counselling without which their candidature will stand cancelled. NITs in India offer various undergraduate and postgraduate courses to eligible candidates for admission. Some of the popular BTech courses for which the NIT cutoff will be released are as follows:
NIT Admission Process
With the declaration of JEE Main result, the institute-wise allotment of seats for admission to BTech courses is released by JoSAA. Firstly, candidates who fall within the JoSAA opening & closing ranks for the preferred college and course are shortlisted for admission. Secondly, shortlisted candidates must participate in JoSAA counselling process for seat allotment at the reporting institute for document verification and payment of fees. Candidates are called as per the JEE Main All India Rank (AIR) and availability of seats.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) will declare the JEE Mains result 2026 in the form of percentile scores. Candidates can check here the previous year JEE Main marks vs percentile data to understand how much is 120 marks in JEE Main percentile.
As per the last year JEE Main marks vs percentile analysis, 120 marks would be around 95 to 97 percentile. However, the exact JEE Main 2025 percentile marks 120 would vary depending upon the highest number scored by the candidate in a particula shift and the total number candidates appeared in that particular shift.
As per the round 3 of JEE Main cutoff 2025, it is possible to get admission to VNIT Nagpur with a rank of 40,000 in JEE Main. The cutoff for the General AI category candidates was closed at 709 and 42319. Looking at the cutoff range, it was evident that getting admission at 40,000 rank is possible, among the General AI category candidates. Among the OBC AI category candidates, the closing ranks varied between 405 and 14336. For the OBC AI category candidates, getting a seat at 40,000 is not possible.
For the General Home State quota candidates, the range of cutoff was between 505 and 47323. Therefore, it is possible to get admission to the college with 40,000 rank among the General Home State category candidates.
FAQs related to NITs Cutoff
No, your state do not matter in the case of JEE Main admission at NIT Nagaland. This is because, NIT Nagaland doesn't releases its JEE Main cutoff based on Home State quota. It releases the cutoff in the form of opening and closing ranks for All India quotas only. Moreover, as per NIT Nagaland JEE Main cutoff 2024, 75k is a moderate rank to get admission at NIT Nagaland, candidates can get admission with this rank. NIT Jalandhar cutoff 2025 has been released for admission to the BTech course, based on JEE Main scores. The cutoff was released for different categories belonging to the All India and Home State quotas. Among the General All India quota, the closing ranks varied between 10232 and 50828. Therefore, candidates belonging to the General AI quota must have a rank of 50828 or below.
For candidates belonging to the OBC AI category candidates, the closing ranks varied between 3751 and 15164. Therefore, it is possible to get admission to the college for the OBC AI category, if the candidate has attained a rank of 15164 or lesser.
