Choose the right reference books, create a balance between board and competitive exams and manage time productively to crack the JEE exam.
It is rightly said that life is not a bed of roses. With every step you take forward you have to face many challenges. The same happens in the life of a student. Every student has to strive hard to climb the ladder of success. Everyone has something to share. Also, I would share my experience with all my friends through this article.
To get enrolled in engineering college, everyone has to first appear for JEE Main examination and to secure a seat in the institute, one has to score well and qualify the minimum cut-off. When I appeared for JEE examination, I got only 10 to 12 days after my Class 12 board exams to quickly revise the concepts. Honestly, at first, I did not take it seriously at all and kept on procrastinating. Later, I realised it's a high time to prepare myself for the exam, so, I started revising the important concepts which I prepared during Class 11 and 12. Also, I did not join any coaching institution, however, some of my friends were enrolled in the same so I used to borrow their notes of important concepts and took their help if required.

So, after the boards, I just revised those notes and some concepts from NCERT for Chemistry. The days passed by and I went to appear for the exam. I never imagined that the questions would be so difficult for me to solve but somehow I tried to solve the questions and attempted only those for which I was sure of. After giving the exam, I regretted my decision of not taking the JEE exam seriously which I could have prepared better. I didn't have any hope for the result to be positive but still, I waited for the same and finally, the day arrived. I was disappointed after seeing the result. I never imagined the consequences of the result and it was really difficult for me to accept everything. But everything happens for a reason and one should learn from the mistakes and move ahead. I would like to advise all my friends to make the best of this pandemic situation and utilise your precious time in preparing for the exam. It doesn't matter whether you are enrolled in any coaching institute or not. The only thing matter is the determination and hard work. Start preparing for JEE by understanding the concepts from NCERT textbook and after that, you could explore some reference books listed below as these were suggested by my teachers for the preparation.
- Physical Chemistry by OP Tandon
- Numerical Chemistry by B. Bahadur
- Morrison Organic Chemistry
- Fundamental-Physics- Halliday, Resnick and Walker
- Concepts of Physics by H C Verma
- Mathematics- RD Sharma
After studying a particular topic one must also try to solve as many MCQs as one can. If someone is facing a problem in any topic, they could access these topics online on YouTube.
The students appearing for JEE this year have an edge as they have got extra time for preparation. They should focus on utilising the time in solving mock tests and previous year question papers. All the students must put in the hard work now to get good results in the future.
