Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur released the GATE 2023 application form on August 30, 2022. The exam conducting authority has already announced the GATE 2023 schedule on July 27, 2022. GATE 2023 is conducted for various subjects including Mechanical Engineering. Students who are desired to get enrolled into M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering through GATE must know all the important details about it. GATE 2023 registrations has been started and the application form will remain available online till September 30, 2022, and the last date to apply for the same with a late fee amount is October 7, 2022. Yes. Candidates who have completed their B.Sc can appear in GATE exam. The eligibility criteria for appearing in the GATE exam wa changes in 2021 and now B.Sc/BA graduates are also eligible to appear in GATE exam. As per the revised GATE eligibility criteria,

Scope of Mechanical Engineering
Mechanical engineering is considered the evergreen branch among all other engineering branches. Mechanical engineers deal with the concepts of mechanics, thermodynamics, robotics, kinematics, structural mechanics, fluid mechanics, power sector, and aerospace. Along with the private sector, various Public Sector Units (PSUs) like BHEL, BEL, and SAIL etc. accept the GATE score for the recruitment of candidates in various positions. There is a great scope of job avenues in the following sectors for mechanical engineers in India and abroad:
After declining/rejecting the offer (s) in a particular round, you will not be considered for the same offer (s). In case, you have given higher preferences in M.Tech. Application, then you may be considered for the higher preferences in the subsequent round (s) of offers based on the availability of vacancies and merit list, within the rules of that institute. Also, after the last/final round at COAP no offers will be available at COAP. For any offer/admission related matter, candidates must visit the respective Academic Institutes Admission Portal.
Passing marks in GATE exam is different for all 30 papers. The GATE qualifying mark for PSUs recruitment is also different. Candidates appearing in any GATE paper have to obtain the minimum mark in order to be declared qualified for the exam. Only qualified candidates are considered for admission to MTech/MSc/PhD programs and the MHRD scholarship. Candidates can check the previous year GATE cutoff for various papers on the Shiksha page or from the GATE official website.

Candidates need to graduate from BTech at IIT Dhanbad with a minimum GPA of 8.0 or above to qualify for M.Tech admissions without GATE. Only the candidates who clear BTech from IIT Dhanbad are allowed admissions without GATE into M.Tech at II Dhanbad with the aforementioned score.

No, the GATE 2026 has already been concluded for IIT Dhanbad M.Tech admissions. The GATE 2026 registrations are closed in the month of October. Candidates who have appeared for GATE will need to wait for all merit-lists to be revealed.

The PhD admissions to the Institute Assistantship courses at IIT Guwahati require candidates to appear for the GATE or CEED.
