JEE Advanced 2021 Exam Timings

Amit: Paper-1 was easy while Paper-2 was tougher. Out of all sections, Mathematics was the toughest since it was tricky. There were more questions from the conic sections. Chemistry was easier and Physics was moderate.

Ashwini Raj: In Paper-2, the Mathematics section was too lengthy and tough. Physics was also tough and Chemistry was of moderate difficulty. The Mathematics section had questions from calculus and coordinates. Physics was also tough and had more questions from EMI, In the Chemistry section of Paper-2, there were many questions from the Inorganic section while in Paper-1, it was moderate.

Ankit: The paper was moderate to difficult. The Physics section was tough and the Mathematics section was lengthy. Chemistry was comparatively easier than the other two sections. The paper was balanced. 

Tanu Singh: The Chemistry section of Paper-2 was moderately tougher as compared to Paper-1. The Mathematics section was also tough and lengthy. Physics had tough as well as easy questions. There were more questions on integration, probability and sequence in Mathematics. In Physics, the questions were balanced. Inorganic questions were comparatively lesser in the Chemistry section.

  • Total Marks for Paper-1: 180
  • Overall Question Paper Difficulty Level: Moderate
  • Mathematics Section Difficulty Level
    • Moderate, Tricky and Lengthy
    • Chapters with higher weightage were Calculus, Coordinate Geometry
  • Physics Section Difficulty Level
    • Easier than last Year
    • More questions from Class 12 the board syllabus.
    • Chapters with higher weightage were Electrostatics & Magnetism
  • Chemistry Section Difficulty Level
    • Easy to moderate
    • Chapters with higher weightage were Reaction Mechanism and Coordination Compound

JEE Advanced 2021 Student Reactions for Paper-1

Rohit Kumar: Physics section had moderate difficulty level questions and Mathematics was difficult. The Chemistry section was also moderate and doable. The Mathematics section had more questions about coordinates and probability. The questions were well-balanced in the Chemistry and Physics section. Overall, it was a balanced paper and quite scoring. 

Suman: The Chemistry section was comparatively easier than the rest. Physics was of moderate difficulty and Mathematics had two or three easy questions but it was a time-consuming and lengthy section. The one-option questions in Chemistry were easy but the more than one option ones were quite tricky. Mathematics had more questions from calculus and trigonometry while in Chemistry, there were more from the Organic section. The Physics section had questions from gravitation, rotation and mechanics. Overall, the paper was moderate but lengthy. 

Utkarsh: The paper was moderate or easier in terms of difficulty as compared to last year. If the students had a good grasp on theories, then they have a chance of clearing the exam. The Physics section was easy and Chemistry was a bit difficult. Mathematics was easy if the formulas were studied well. It was a balanced paper but Chemistry had a lot of questions from the Inorganic section.

Mohammad: It was a moderate paper. The Physics section was a bit tough and Chemistry was easy. Mathematics was a bit tough as compared to the other two sections but overall the paper was moderate. There were more Organic questions in the Chemistry section.

Shivang Rai: The paper was a bit difficult. The questions in the Physics section were a bit easy and logical. Projectile questions were easily solved with less effort. Organic questions were more in number in the Chemistry section and Maths was tough as usual. Most of the questions were based from the 11th standard syllabus.

Sahil Singh: In the paper, the Physics section was moderate and logical. Most of the questions in the Chemistry section were NCERT based and Inorganic was completely based on it. The Mathematics section was tricky and very lengthy with a lot of weightage on calculus and geometry. The Physics section was balanced and Organic questions were more in number in the Chemistry section.

JEE Advanced 2021: Entry Started

Authorities at the respective exam centres have started the entry of students. All candidates must follow the following exam day guidelines at the centres:

  • Candidates must wear their own masks at all times and carry their own hand sanitiser along with a transparent bottle of water.
  • Candidates must maintain social distancing at all times. Queue manager/ropes and Floor Marks will be arranged outside the Test Centre.
  • Lab/Hall/Room number will not be displayed outside the Test Centre to avoid any crowding at any one place in any situation. Instead, this detail will be informed to the candidates when the barcode on the Admit Card is scanned.
  • Candidates will be required to clean their hands by washing with soap and with Hand Sanitizer before entry into the Test Centre.

Overall, 50-55% seats are reserved in IITs. The break-up of reservation is - 27% for OBC-NCL, 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST, 10% for Gen-EWS and 5% horizontal reservation for PwD candidates.

Physics is the most difficult of all three subjects asked in the JEE Advanced exam. Many students also finds Maths as the toughest. It largely depends upon the understanding of candidates and how well the students are equipped with basic knowledge of any subject.

JEE Advanced question paper will be available online on the website jeeadv.ac.in. IIT Roorkee will release both paper 1 and 2 on the same day or the next day of exam.
