JoSAA 2020 Registration and Choice Filling: Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has begun the registration and choice -filling process for the qualified candidates of JEE Main 2020 and JEE Advanced 2020 on its official portal i.e. josaa.nic.in. The qualified candidates will be required to register themselves and then fill their online preferences of institutes and engineering streams from October 6 to 15, 2020. Candidates must ensure that they fill all the choices of engineering streams and colleges as per their choices as it will be one of the important parameters based on which the rounds of seat allocation will take place.

How to register for JoSAA 2020?

Candidates will need to follow the below-given steps to register and fill their choices in JoSAA 2020 counselling:

Step-1: Visit the official website josaa.nic.in.

Step-2: After visiting the website, search for JoSAA 2020 registration link and click on it.

Step-3: After clicking a registration window will open, where candidates will be required to enter their JEE Main 2020/JEE Advanced 2020 application number and password.

Step-4: After submitting the details, a window will open where all the details of candidates will be displayed. Candidates must cross-check all the details diligently and then enter a new password.

Step-5: Candidates will only be allowed to change their contact details. After checking all the details, candidates have to click on the ‘Submit’ button.

Step-6: After completion of the registration process, candidates will be able to check the available choices of engineering streams and institutions. Aspirants must select the academic programs in order of their preferences.

Step-7: Candidates must not forget to lock their choices after filling them online. This is an important step in the process of the JoSAA 2020 seat allotment process. If a candidate does not lock the choices then the system will automatically save the choices selected earlier. Hence, the preference will be displayed like that only.

Instructions to follow while filling the choices for JoSAA 2020

Candidates are required to follow the below instructions while filling the choices for the JoSAA 2020 seat allocation:

  • The choices have to be filled in the decreasing order of the preferences.
  • Candidates must select the academic programs carefully.
  • Candidates will be given a 10-day window to fill in their online choices.
  • Candidates must lock their choices before the Online Choice Filling Window closes.
  • The candidates will not be allowed to lock or change their choice after the deadline.

JoSAA 2020 registrations: key points to remember

There are few things that can be edited at the time of JoSAA Registration and there are some details that cannot be edited. Check the information given below for the same:

  • Father’s / Mother’s / Guardian’s Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Class 12th Examination Board

  • State of Eligibility
  • Gender

JoSAA 2020 Eligibility Criteria

To appear in the seat allocation rounds, candidates need to fulfil the given criteria:

  • All the candidates who qualify JEE Main 2020 will be allowed to appear for the seat allocation round
  • All the candidates who qualify JEE Advanced 2020 will also be eligible to appear for JoSAA 2020 counselling.
  • The candidates must secure 75% in 12th class or must be in top 20 percentile. For SC, ST, and PwD candidates, the qualifying percentage is 65%. (For admission into IITs).

Q. When can I apply for JoSAA Counselling?

A. JoSAA counselling 2020 for the admission in IITs, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs will begin on October 06, 2020. Candidates need to register on the official portal of JoSAA to appear in the counselling process.

Q. How can I apply for JoSAA 2020 Counselling in JoSAA?

A. Students have to register themselves online for participating in the JoSAA 2020 counselling. After registration, they have to enter their choices for institute and engineering branch as per their rank and availability of seats. They have to lock their choices and accordingly, seats will be allotted to them.

Q. Will I be allowed to reshuffle the choices at any stage of seat allotment?

A. The reshuffling of choices will only be during the choice filling period before these choices are locked. No candidate will be allowed to reorder the choices selected after the specified time period.

Q. What will happen if I do not lock my choices?

A. Your last saved choices/preferences will be locked automatically and taken into consideration within the time period specified.

Q. Will I have to pay any fees for registration and filling up choices?

A. No, there will be no fees for registration and filling up of choices.

Q. What are the documents required for NIT Counselling?

A. Candidates have to provide Provisional seat allotment letter, Original JEE Main 2020 admit card, One passport size photograph same as uploaded during the application form fill up, JEE Main 2020 scorecard issued by NTA, Proof of Photo ID by government, Class XII board mark sheet and Category and Medical certificate (if any).

Q. Who is eligible for JoSAA Counselling?

A. All the candidates who have qualified JEE Main 2020 or JEE Advanced 2020 will be eligible to register and appear for JoSAA 2020 counselling and seat allotment procedure.

Q. I have appeared in JEE Advanced also? Where should I put the details?

A. Use the JEE Advanced password to register in such a case so your details are captured. Anyway, the registration form does ask for all such details so you won't miss out.

Q. Is domicile certificate required for admission to NITs?

A. In joining IIT/NIT/IIIT through JEE, candidates are not required to provide domicile certificate. It is only NIT where admission is offered against Home State quota and it is not determined on the basis of the state to which you belong but on the basis of the state in which you appear your 12th board exam.
