MHT CET 2026 CAP Round 1 Cutoff

The State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell, Maharashtra, will release the MHT CET CAP round 1 cutoff 2026 for BE/BTech admissions. The cutoff will be published only after the declaration of the CAP round 1 seat allotment result, which is scheduled for August 2, 2026. Candidates who have completed the CAP round 1 option entry can check the institute-wise and branch-wise closing ranks once the allotment is announced.

The MHT CET cutoff is one of the most important factors during counselling as it indicates the last rank or percentile at which admission is offered in a particular institute and course. The cutoff is released separately for each MHT CAP round and varies across categories, home university quota, All India quota, colleges, and engineering branches.

What is MHT CET CAP Round 1 Cutoff?

The MHT CET CAP Round 1 cutoff is the closing rank or percentile at which admissions close for a particular college and branch in the first MHT CET counselling round. It helps candidates understand the competition for various engineering programmes. Separate cutoffs are released for:

  • Maharashtra State candidates

  • All India candidates (JEE Main)

  • Home University quota

  • Other University quota

  • Category-wise admissions

Factors Affecting MHT CET 2026 Cutoff

Several factors influence the Round 1 cutoff every year, including:

  • Number of candidates participating in CAP counselling

  • Difficulty level of MHT CET 2026

  • Availability of engineering seats

  • Total participating institutes

  • College and branch preference among candidates

  • Reservation policy

  • Previous year’s admission trends

This year, the CET Cell has increased engineering intake to 380 participating institutes offering 1,92,180 engineering seats, compared to 372 institutes with 1,77,985 seats last year. The higher seat availability may influence cutoffs in several colleges, although demand for top institutes is expected to remain highly competitive.

What Can Candidates Expect?

Although the official cutoff is yet to be announced, admissions to premier institutes such as COEP Technological University, VJTI Mumbai, SPIT Mumbai, PICT Pune, and Walchand College of Engineering are expected to remain highly competitive. Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Information Technology, and Electronics-related branches generally witness the highest closing percentiles.

Candidates targeting these institutes should not rely solely on previous-year cutoffs, as admission trends may change due to the increased number of seats, candidate preferences, and counselling participation this year.

How to Check MHT CET CAP Round 1 Cutoff 2026?

After the cutoff is released, candidates can:

  1. Visit the official MHT CET CAP counselling portal.

  2. Open the CAP Round 1 cutoff link.

  3. Download the institute-wise cutoff PDF.

  4. Search for the preferred college and branch.

  5. Check the closing rank or percentile for the relevant category.

What After the Round 1 Cutoff?

Candidates allotted seats in CAP Round 1 will have to confirm their admission as per the counselling schedule. Those who are not allotted a seat or wish to seek better options can participate in the subsequent CAP rounds, where fresh cutoffs will be released based on vacant seats and candidate movement.

Well, having been a follower of the engineering college scene going on for some time in Haryana and Delhi-NCR, I feel that the “best” college really depends on the students' personality and what they precisely want to achieve after they come out of engineering.

Some students are looking for Governmen
