Obtain a clear understanding of the subjects with major topics and its weightage during preparation for JEE Advanced. Refer to correct study material or books, and give proper time to revise each and every topic to score high in JEE Advanced.
Many students decide to appear for JEE Advanced after giving JEE Mains in January. They need tips to score high in JEE Advanced. In this article, I am going to discuss some important tips for different subjects with weightage and study material to score high in JEE Advanced 2020.
Explore colleges based on JEE Advanced
To prepare for JEE Advanced every student is required to give their best shot to score high in the examination and get admission in the premier engineering institutes across the country. This involves proper study time, hard work, smart work, effective plan and goal, dedication, discipline, motivation and so on.
Firstly, every student should know the weightage of different topics to devise the strategy for preparation to high score in JEE Advanced 2020. This is majorly based on previous years question papers.
Chemistry
- Organic Chemistry – 36%; Topics: General Organic Chemistry, Carbonyl Compounds, Bio molecules, Polymers, Amines, Aromatic Compounds, Isomers (Stereo) and so on.
- Physical Chemistry – 34%; Topics: Electrochemistry, Atomic Structure, Chemical Kinematics and Equilibrium, Mole concept, Solid and Gaseous State, Surface and Nuclear Chemistry, etc.
- Inorganic Chemistry – 30%; Topics: Chemical Bonding, P Block Elements, Coordination Compounds, Qualitative Analysis, etc.
Physics
- Mechanics – 25%; Topics: Units and Dimensions, Rigid Body Dynamics, Errors, Motion (Circular), Viscosity, Elasticity, etc.
- Electrodynamics – 23%; Topics: Electromagnetic Field and Induction, Current Electricity, Capacitance, etc.
- Modern Physics – 19%
- Optics – 14%; Topics: Geometrical, Wave, Physical and Ray Optics, etc.
- Thermodynamics and Heat -13%; Topics: Thermodynamics, KTG, Heat Transfer, Thermal Expansion, etc.
- Simple Harmonic Motion (SHM) and Waves – 6%
MATHEMATICS
- Differential and Integral Calculus – 30%
- Coordinate Geometry - 14%
- Matrices - 11%
- 3D Geometry and Vector - 9%
- Trigonometry - 8%
- Probability - 7%
- Complex Numbers - 5%
- Fundamentals of Mathematics - 4%
- Binomial Theorem - 3%
- Quadratic Equation - 3%
- Permutation and Combination - 3%
- Sequence and Series - 3%
The next important tip to score high marks in JEE Advanced is to practice from the correct study material. The study material for all three subjects for preparation of JEE Advanced 2020 is given as follows:
CHEMISTRY
- Chemistry Textbooks of NCERT
- Textbook of Physical Chemistry by Dr. R.K. Gupta
- Textbook of Organic Chemistry by Dr. O.P. Tandon
PHYSICS
- Physics Textbooks of NCERT
- Fundamentals of Physics by Halliday and Resnick
- Concepts of Physics by H.C. Verma (Volume 1 and 2)
MATHEMATICS
- Mathematics Textbooks of NCERT
- Complete Mathematics by McGraw Hill
- Objective Mathematics by R.D. Sharma (Volume 1 and 2)
After having a clear understanding of the weightage and study material of JEE Advanced from this article set a goal and work towards achieving the same.
