Students’ Speak: What should you do if your WBJEE Main score is low

By: Shubham Singla

West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam (WBJEE) is one of the engineering exams which is conducted on a state-level for students who want to pursue Engineering. Looking at the difficulty level of the exam, not everyone is able to crack it in the first attempt.

However, that should not disappoint or demotivate you. First, if you think you had a low score, wait for the last counselling especially the spot round. In spot round, most of the students can get a decent branch.

Moreover, there are several other colleges that you could take admission to study a branch of engineering. These colleges do not consider WBJEE score. These include Birla Institute of Technology and Sciences (BITS), Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Manipal University, etc. These are good colleges and conduct their own entrance exam. You can also opt for several colleges that you get easily even after a low score such as Lovely Professional University. Believe me, they are good and some of them even are doing better than some of the top colleges. If you don’t get anything then still there are some private colleges that are still good such as University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) Landra and many more.

Dropping a year could be another option if you think that you still have hope and confidence that you can crack WBJEE with a good score. However, if you already have dropped a year then it’s not advisable to take another drop. Believe in yourself and everything goes well.

However, the main point is you have to prepare very well if you drop a year. You have to focus on your studies from starting itself and stop using all things that distract you from your goal of cracking WBJEE. What else you could do is take admission in a good private college with your low score and start preparing for the next WBJEE exam. If you score well next year, take admission into a better college. This way you will not spoil another year and still are able to make it.

Overall, WBJEE is considered moderately tough. Level of syllabus is similar to 12th standard qualifying exam. Therefore, students who are well prepared for their board exams are likely to score well in WBJEE.

No, there is no provision for conducting WBJEE twice a year. WBJEEB has always conducted WBJEE as an annual one day examination. If there is any change in exam pattern, it will be announced online.
