WBJEE exam was conducted on February 2, 2020. Below are the latest updates on WBJEE 2020 dates, answer key, result and counselling, cut off and more have a look:

The West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam (WBJEE) is a state-level exam organised by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board for students seeking admission in undergraduate engineering, architecture and pharmacy courses of various government and private institutions. The provisional WBJEE 2020 answer key has been released on February 17. Candidates can challenge the answer keys by paying an amount of Rs.500 until February 19. The result of WBJEE 2020 is expected to be announced in the first week of March.

WBJEE Results 2020

WBJEEB will declare the WBJEE 2020 result in the third week of March on the official website. Applicants can check their results by entering their application number and password on the login window. WBJEE 2020 result is declared in the form of a score/rank card. The WBJEE rank card comprises marks and ranks obtained by candidates in the entrance test. Applicants who will qualify WBJEE 2020 exam cut off will only be shortlisted in the merit list. Applicants will be further allowed to attend the WBJEE counselling process.

WBJEE Counselling 2020

Registrations for WBJEE counselling will commence from the third week of June 2020. It is an online process for registrations, payment of fee and final seat allotment. Candidates seeking admission to all the government and private colleges in the state of West Bengal need to complete the process of the WBJEE entrance exam and complete the e-counselling.

Important points a candidate needs to know at the time of counselling:

  • WBJEE seat allotment 2020 results for each round will be released by the WBJEEB
  • Seat allotment results will be released along with the opening and closing ranks for all WBJEE colleges
  • Candidates can check their seat allotment results on the official website of WBJEE by submitting their registered login credentials
  • WBJEE cut off (opening and closing ranks) are available in a downloadable pdf format and does not require any login.
  • Candidates satisfied with their WBJEE seat allotment result can make the payment of acceptance fee
  • After this Candidate can report at the reporting centre for document verification
  • And if any of the candidates who is not satisfied with their allotment can withdraw their candidature.

WBJEE 2020 application form

The application form for WBJEE was been released by WBJEEB on October 18 and the last date to fill and submit the application forms for WBJEE is November 13. All candidates aspiring for the WBJEE have to complete their registration process through the official website: http://www.wbjeeb.in/.

While filling the registration form, candidates need to enter their details, educational qualifications, contact information, language for question paper, choice of paper, and exam centre. Candidates can also avail WBJEE application correction facility which will be available on the official website of the board from November 14 to 16.

WBJEE 2020 Application Fee

The WBJEE application fee for General category is Rs 700 while for SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B is Rs 500. Candidates can pay the application fee via debit/credit card or net banking.

Note: Candidates are advised to preserve the online application receipt generated after the successful payment of the application fee. It will be required at the time of WBJEE counselling and admissions. 

WBJEE 2020 eligibility criteria

Candidates aspiring for admission to various undergraduate courses offered by government and private colleges in West Bengal need to check their eligibility status before filling the application form for WBJEE 2020. Aspirants can check the eligibility criteria below:

  • Candidate appearing for WBJEE 2020 must be a citizen of India.
  • The minimum age limit for a candidate appearing in WBJEE is 17 years as on December 31, 2020. Candidates must have been born on or before December 31, 2003.
  • The upper age limit for marine engineering course will be 25 years as on December 31, 2020. 
  • There is no upper age limit for candidates seeking admission in other courses.
  • It is compulsory to pass class 12 or equivalent exam through West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or any other relevant Council/Board securing 50 per cent aggregate marks.
  • Physics and Mathematics are taken in to account for admission. Biotechnology/Chemistry/Biology/Technical will be held as additional subjects.
  • Candidates coming under the reserved category will not be under the percentage regulation and can apply for the exam with 45 per cent aggregate marks.

NoteCandidates seeking admission needs not to be the domicile of West Bengal to appear in WBJEE 2020. But it may be required at the time of admission in government colleges of West Bengal.

WBJEE 2020 Exam Pattern

The most important part of preparing for any entrance test is the exam pattern. Candidates are advised to go through the WBJEE exam pattern in detail as this will help the aspirants to understand the structure in a better way. WBJEE 2020 question paper will comprise three major sections namely Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The question paper will carry a total of 155 questions against 200 marks. 

While the paper for Physics and Chemistry will be conducted on the first day, paper for Mathematics/Biology will be held on the second day of the WBJEE exam. Have a look at the WBJEE exam pattern given below:

  • Mode of Examination: Offline Examination
  • Language of Paper: English and Bengali
  • Exam Slots:
    1. Paper-I (Mathematics) – (11 am to 1 pm)
    2. Paper-II (Physics & Chemistry) – (2-4 pm)
  • Type of Questions: Multiple Choice Question (MCQ)
  • Total Number of Questions: 155
  • Total Marks: 200
  • Number of Categories: 3 (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics)
  • Marking Scheme: Each question from category-I will carry 1 mark and 2 marks from category-II and III.
  • Negative Marking: 25 marks will be deducted from category-I and 0.5 from category-II & III

WBJEE cutoff will vary for the different colleges, courses and categories. Reserved category students are expected to have a lower cutoff than General students. Likewise, popular colleges and courses will have higher cutoffs due to the number of students applying for admission.

No, the students who meet the WBJEE cutoff will not be guaranteed admission. However, they will have higher chances of admission into their preferences. Since other factors will also be considered for allotment, the cutoff cannot be used as a guarantee for admission.
