MAT Last Day Preparation Tips
Last day MAT preparation essentially includes revision and going through exam day guidelines. Take a look at top tips for MAT last day preparation.
Stick to Revision of Top MAT Formulae Only
A day before the MAT exam, don’t take out all the notes and try to read them all. You have already studied them several times till now. Be confident of your preparation. Go through the short notes now. Revise important theorems and formulae to keep them fresh in memory. You can solve a couple of high difficulty level questions from topics that are your weak points to see if there’s any improvement. If not, don’t worry, focus on your strengths.
Commonly asked questions
MAT is conducted multiple times in a year. MAT 2024 exam dates were announced phase wise - February, May, August and December. Candidates were allowed to register for multiple mode and multiple attempts. The MAT exam dates 2024 are given below:
MAT Test Mode | MAT Test Date | MAT Registration Ends | Availability of MAT Admit Card |
|---|---|---|---|
CBT - 1 | 7-Dec-24 | 30-Nov-24 | 3-Dec-24 |
PBT | 14-Dec-24 | 7-Dec-24 | 10-Dec-24 |
CBT - 2 | 22-Dec-24 | 15-Dec-24 | 18-Dec-24 |
Don’t Fret Over Topics Not Covered
In case you’ve not been able to cover all the topics of MAT syllabus, don’t worry about it. It is not mandatory to solve all the 200 questions in the exam. You can leave out questions from topics you've not prepared and solve the ones you’ve prepared well. The advantage of MAT is that you can attempt it again after two-three months as it is conducted in four phases in a year. If MAT February 2023 attempt doesn’t go well, appear for it in May 2023 phase with better preparation.
Go Through Latest MAT Question Paper
To make a MAT exam day strategy, go through the latest MAT question paper to know the types of questions asked and weightage of topics. This will help you in deciding which questions to attempt and which ones to skip.
Make MAT Exam Day Strategy
Making an exam day strategy is extremely helpful in optimizing performance in exam. MAT is a speed based test of 2.5 hours wherein candidates have to solve 200 questions. However, there is no sectional time limit, so it may happen that a candidate will end up spending more that required time on one section and fall short of it in the other section. A day before, decide how much time you will spend on which section. The score of Indian and Global Environment section is not taken into consideration for MAT percentile calculation, so it should be your last priority. If you face time crunch, skip it altogether.
Keep a target score and percentile in mind and attempt to achieve that first while attempting the MAT exam 2023. You can improvise on that further.
Get MAT Admit Card and Important Documents in Order
Download the MAT 2023 admit card and take two printouts of it. Fill the COVID-19 declaration attached to the admit card and keep a valid photo ID along with it. Photo IDs acceptable for identification at MAT test centre include Aadhaar card, PAN card, Passport, driving License, Voter ID or college/university ID card. Keep two blue/black ball-point pens, face mask, hand sanitizer and drinking water bottle for the exam day.
Check MAT Test Centre Location and Distance
MAT Paper Based Test (PBT) and Computer Based Test (CBT) are conducted at designated centre. Candidates have to visit the MAT PBT or CBT test centre to appear for it. The MAT test centre address will be mentioned on the MAT admit card 2023. Check the location, reporting time, distance and mode of transport from your location a day before the exam, so that you don’t get late or face any hassle in reaching the test centre.
Check COVID-19 Guidelines for MAT 2023
COVID-19 protocols such as wearing of mask and hand sanitisation are still applicable at public places. AIMA has also prescribed some guidelines to be followed at the MAT exam centre by both students and staff. Read those instructions beforehand so as to not face any difficulty during entry.
Also check the list of things to carry and not carry to the exam centre. Candidates are not supposed to wear caps or headcovers and jackets or outfits with pockets. They are not suppose to carry electronic items, stationary (apart from a pen), metal items, accessories with metal in it, books bags, purses and other valuables.
Relax and Sleep Well
After making these preparations, spend time in doing recreational activities to keep exam stress at bay. Sleep well in the night and wake up with a fresh mind on the exam day.
All the best!
