After the exam, the top coaching institutes across India released the unofficial NEET 2025 answer keys. Based on that, candidates must have calculated their estimated scores and are wondering about the rank it would fetch them. Candidates’ NEET 2025 rank would play the deciding factor for allotting seats during the NEET 2025 counselling process.
The responses marked on the OMR Sheet of NEET are scanned and uploaded on the official website of NTA. The responses marked are read and captured by the machines, which can sometimes lead to smudging of the responses. Therefore, there can be errors in the scanned copy of NEET OMR sheet. If a student finds any such error in their OMR sheet, they have the provision to challenge them. Candidates have to pay a processing fee of INR 200 per response challenged. The steps for challenging the OMR sheet of NEET are given below:
- Go to the official website of NTA NEET
- Login using the NEET application number and password or date of birth
- Click on “OMR Challenge”
- You will see the questions in sequential order
- Select Question (s) for which you wish to challenge the Recorded Response.
- Once you select any Question for Challenge, you will see three options under the column ‘Candidate’s Claim’.

- After clicking your desired option, for Physics / Chemistry / Botany / Zoology for NEET (UG) - 2023, scroll down, ‘Submit’, and move to the next screen.
- You will see a screen displaying your challenges.
- Click on ‘Submit' and Pay Fee Finally’.
- Select Mode of Payment and Pay a processing fee of INR 200 for each question/grade challenged. Make payment through Debit/Credit Card/Net Banking/Paytm.
- After successful payment, download/print the Answer Key challenge receipt
The NTA has not announced the NEET 2026 dates as of now. It is likely that the NTA NEET UG exam will be held as per the previous years' trends. The exam might be held on May 3, 2025, that is, the first sunday of the month. The NEET 2025 session exam was held on May 4, in a similar trend to the last couple of years.
Firstly, if you are expecting a NEET 2025 score in the range of 601 to 700, you must congratulate yourself as achieving a score in this range is no mean feat. Moreover, with such a difficult NEET 2025 question paper, where experts are anticipating that scoring the full marks of 720 would be impossible, scoring between 601 and 700 is expected to fetch a good rank.

Factors Impacting Admission to Medical Colleges
The admission process for the NEET participating colleges depends on the following factors:
- NEET Cutoff: First and foremost, candidates have to fulfil the NEET qualifying cutoff, which was released by the National Testing Agency (NTA) along with the result. Only those candidates who would be fulfilling the cutoff will be considered eligible to participate in the NEET 2025 counselling. According to experts, this year, the difficulty level of the exam was extremely tough. Moreover, the total number of test-takers was lower than last year, resulting in a lower NEET cutoff
- NEET Counselling: The NEET counselling is conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for the 15 per cent All India Quota (AIQ) seats, and the State Counselling authorities conduct the counselling process for the 85 per cent State Quota seats. Candidates have to participate in the counselling process to get a seat allotted. They must accept the seat and complete the admission process by the said date. Once a candidate joins an institute, he or she would not be allowed to participate in any further rounds of counselling or state counselling.
- Filling up the right choices: Candidates are advised to enter correct and feasible seat choices in terms of college and courses. While there is no restriction on the number of NEET counselling choice filling, candidates must be mindful whether their chosen course and college would be deemed fit for the scores or ranks obtained by them.
- Number of seats in the institute: The number of seats also plays an important role in the seat allotment process of the NEET participating institutes. Institutes with a low intake will exhaust their admission process sooner than those with a high seat intake. On the other hand, institutes with high seat intake will participate in multiple rounds of counselling till the time the seats are filled.
It is expected that MCC will conduct the NEET 2025 counselling process from July or August 2025 onwards. The state counselling authorities will begin the NEET state counselling process within a month of the commencement of the All India NEET 2025 counselling.
