In NEET 2025, will 400 be a decent score?

A score of 500 to 400 is average in NEET 2025, above the qualifying marks. However, candidates may not expect to seek admission in government colleges for the MBBS course. This range of scores can get an aspirant a rank of 95278 to 215071, which is decent to get admission in private colleges for BDS and allied courses. Candidates will also be able to apply to BHMS, BAMS, or BVSc programmes. Given the fact that the highest score obtained in NEET is 686, and the NEET 2025 cutoff has been reduced, the score of 400 can be considered a decent score.

Where can I get admission with a 400 Score in NEET 2025?

With a score of 400 to 500 marks, candidates are likely to get admission to the following avenues in the medical stream:

Private Colleges – The Private medical institutes often have a lower NEET cutoff than government colleges. Candidates scoring 400 marks to 500 marks in NEET 2025 will be able to seek admission to good MBBS or BDS programmes offered in private colleges across India.

BDS programmes – Another lucrative option is BDS, where a score of 400-500 marks is required for admission to government medical colleges. If a candidate scores 400+ in NEET 2025, he/she will be eligible for admission to Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) programmes in government colleges through state quota counselling, especially the reserved category (SC/ST/OBC) candidates.

Other allied health courses - Programmes such as BAMS (Ayurveda), BHMS (Homoeopathy), BUMS (Unani), or BVSc & AH (Veterinary Sciences) are in demand in government and private institutions. These courses are generally offered at lower cut-offs than the NEET cutoff for MBBS government colleges. Candidates can pursue these courses as well if not MBBS, as they are in high demand in the job market as well.

Q:   What is the procedure to challenge NEET OMR sheets?
A:

The responses marked on the OMR Sheet of NEET are scanned and uploaded on the official website of NTA. The responses marked are read and captured by the machines, which can sometimes lead to smudging of the responses. Therefore, there can be errors in the scanned copy of NEET OMR sheet. If a student finds any such error in their OMR sheet, they have the provision to challenge them. Candidates have to pay a processing fee of INR 200 per response challenged. The steps for challenging the OMR sheet of NEET are given below:

  1. Go to the official website of NTA NEET
  2. Login using the NEET application number and password or date of birth
  3. Click on “OMR Challenge”
  4. You will see the questions in sequential order
  5. Select Question (s) for which you wish to challenge the Recorded Response.
  6. Once you select any Question for Challenge, you will see three options under the column ‘Candidate’s Claim’.
  7. If you wish to challenge this option, you may use the Options given in the ‘Candidate’s Claim’ column.
  8. After clicking your desired option, for Physics / Chemistry / Botany / Zoology for NEET (UG) - 2023, scroll down, ‘Submit’, and move to the next screen.

  12. After successful payment, download/print the Answer Key challenge receipt
Q:   Will candidates be provided with face masks at the NEET exam centres?
A:

Till last year, candidates were provided N95 masks at the NEET exam centre which was mandatory to be used by candidates. They had to dispose of their own masks before entering the exam centre at the designated bin. However, since the intensity of Covid has reduced as compared to the last two years, this year candidates may not be provided masks at the centre. The information will be confirmed after the release of the NEET admit card. However, it is recommended that they wear face masks for the entire duration. This should be done to ensure their and other test-takers' safety.

Q:   Has NTA removed any city from the NEET 2025 exam city list?
A:

Yes, NTA removed five cities from the NEET 2025 exam city list in India. The total number of NEET 2025 exam cities outside India as remained the same, which is 14. Since NTA limits the state and city choice as per the present address, applicants need not think for long to select the right exam city choices.
