The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) - UG 2018 on May 6 at more than 2000 exam centres across 136 cities in India. The exam, which is a gateway for admissions to MBBS and BDS courses, was taken by more than 1.3 million aspirants. According to experts, NEET UG 2018 was easier than in 2017. While there were similarities between the NEET 2018 syllabus and the syllabus of Class 12th, the questions in the exam were not time-consuming.

NEET UG exam comprised 180 objective-type questions (four options with a single correct answer) from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology). This year, the exam was held in 11 languages: English, Hindi, Urdu, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Oriya, Tamil and Telugu.

NEET UG 2018 Exam Analysis by Career Point

Read the section-wise NEET 2018 analysis as per the experts from Career Point. 

Physics:

  • Physics paper was balanced. It covers almost all chapters.
  • 20 Questions from class 11th while 25 Questions from class 12th.
  • Most of the questions were average and from Career Point Class Notes and from Study Material.
  • Few Questions are simply Formula based.
  • Few Questions involve lengthy calculation which makes paper slightly difficult as compared to previous year question Paper.

Chemistry:

  • PHYSICAL: Paper is calculative and comparatively harder than last year. One question from mole concept was quiet hard and Ionic equilibrium question was very lengthy 
  • INORGANIC: Inorganic section is average and from coordinate chemistry, 5 questions were asked. Overall easy than last year. None of the answers in one question from P-block chemistry was correct hence 4 marks must be awarded to all students in this question.
  • ORGANIC: Paper is overall average and scoring. Most of the chemical reactions are mechanism-based, nearly the same as that of last year. One question of –I Effect has two correct answers.

Biology:

  • Question paper was well balanced covering almost all units of the prescribed syllabus.
  • Difficulty level was almost similar to last year, but questions were free from ambiguous options, which made the paper easier to solve for the candidate.
  • Out of 180 Questions 18 were easy, 60 Average and 12 were difficult.
  • Around 56%Questions were from 11th and 44% Questions from 12th class.

NEET results in this year were declared on June 4.

No, NEET is not a mandatory entrance exam to qualify for admissions to the BSc courses at HCG Suchirayu College of Nursing. Candidates can appear for the CET or KSEAB in place of NEET to qualify for HCG Suchirayu College of Nursing BSc admissions.

The NTA is expected to release the NEET 2026 results in June 2026, as per previous years trends. The NEET result 2026 release date has not been announced yet. The exam will be held on May 3, 2026.

The NEET UG exam has 180 questions. Out of these, 45 questions are from Physics, 45 from Chemistry and 90 from Biology (45 each in Botany and Zoology). All 180 questions are compulsory to attempt.
