PU CET UG 2026 exam dates have not been officially released yet. It is expected that the exam will be conducted in the second week of May 2026. The registration form will open in the third week of March 2026, tentatively. 

Candidates must visit the official website to check out the important dates and the eligibility criteria to apply for the examination in 2026. 

Eligibility for PU CET UG

  • Students should pass the 12th standard with a minimum of 50%.
  • The 12th subject should include English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology.
  • General Category students need a minimum of 50 % marks in 12th. For SC/ST/OBC/PwD, they need at least 45% marks.
  • You must be an Indian Citizen (NRI can also apply)

Exam Information


Programs: The exam is for admission to the B.Sc. (Honours) course in basic and physical sciences, and Bachelor of Pharmacy programs at Panjab University and its associated colleges.


Format: Offline, pen and paper exam.


Topics: The exam covered topics within the fields of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology.


Maximum Marks: The exam was marked out of a total of 360 marks.


Scoring Criteria: +2 marks for a correct response, -0.5 for an incorrect response.


Total Seats: The exam was to fill more than 400 seats in various programs.

What is PU CET (UG)?

Panjab University Common Entrance Test (PU CET) is conducted by Panjab University, Chandigarh in order to offer candidates admission in BSc (Hons) and pharmacy courses in the varsity. The PU CET is a university-level entrance exam that is conducted once a year. The entrance exam is held in offline mode (pen & paper test) and aspirants need to meet the eligibility criteria in order to appear for the entrance exam and apply for admission. For the BSc (Hons.) under the framework of Hons. School System (4 Years Programme as per NEP-2020) and BPharmacy admissions, the final merit will be prepared based on merit consisting of three components

  • CET merit with weightage 75 %
  • 10+2 or its equivalent examination merit with weightage 25 %
  • over and above weightage of NCC, NSS, etc.

Depending on the program they have registered for, candidates can choose the subjects they want to take. 

Each section of the exam consists of 60 multiple choice questions. Each section must be completed in 70 minutes. There is negative marking for incorrect answers, and each wrong answer will result in a deduction of 0.5 marks. 

The types of questions asked in the PU CET UG exam are based on the syllabuses of the subjects concerned for Class 12. The questions are to test the candidate's understanding of the basic concepts and principles of the subject.

PU CET 2026 Admission Process (Tentatively)

Step 1: Registration

To apply for PU CET 2026, students must first register online, via the official university website, and provide their personal information such as name, email ID and mobile number.

Step 2: Fill in the Application form

students willing to appear for PU-CET (UG) 2025 need to fill the application form before the deadline. The application fee can be submitted in one of the following ways:  Net Banking/Credit Card/ Debit Card/ Demand Draft. 

Step 3: Download PU-CET (UG) 2025 Admit Card

Registered students will be eligible to download admit cards, which will be an important document that needs to be carried to the exam centre. The admit card will be available online and test-takers can download the same from the official website of Panjab University.

Step 4: Appear for PU-CET (UG) 2025

The exam will be conducted in the second week of May, 2025 tentatively. The Test will conducted for the subjects of Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, and Biology. 

Step 5: Check PU-CET (UG) 2025 Result

The result of the exam will be declared online, and test-takers can check their scorecards by visiting the official website of Panjab University. The result can be expected within a week from the date of examination. 

Step 6: Counselling

students who successfully pass the examination will be required to attend the counselling session after the test. Every candidate is required to be present at the counselling in person, and have all necessary documents ready.

After considering all objections, the provisional merit list (essentially the final ranked list of qualified candidates) is released. For 2025, PU CET (UG) provisional merit list was published on July 14, 2025 (evening). This date coincides with the first round of seat allocation (see next section). In practice, once the provisional list is out, it is treated as final for allotment purposes. All candidates whose names appear on that list are eligible for the next step of counseling and seat allotment.

(i) Physical Counseling Form (2 copies) to be downloaded from your login account.

The syllabus for PU CET UG syllabus 2026 includes the topics students have studied in class 11 and 12. Based on the subject for which candidates have submitted their PU CET UG application 2026, students need to study all other subjects in that area stated in the NCERT Books. Q:   What is the reservation criteria for the seats offered through PU CET (UG) 2026 exam?

Admission in all categories shall be made subject to fulfilment of the eligibility conditions and in accordance with the provisions contained in the Handbook of Information and Rules for Admission, 2026.

1) 53.5% of the seats in each course shall be treated as belonging to the General Category.
2) 46.5% of seats shall be treated as belonging to the Reserved Category, as per the details given below:

PU CTE UG Result 2025

On May 23, 2025, the exam conducting body published the PU CET UG Result 2025. The exam official announces the results after taking into consideration the objections raised by the candidates and based on changes made in the PUCET UG 2025 provisional answer key. With respect to the PU CET UG 2025 results, the exam body announces the PU CET UG 2025 final answer key on the official website prior to the PU CET UG 2025 results. No further changes will be made to the published final answer key.
