BITS Pilani Direct Admission Scheme

BITS Pilani Direct Topper Admission Scheme: The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani offers direct admission to board toppers. The scheme helps meritorious students get admission to the prestigious BITS Pilani campus without having to appear for the BITSAT exam. The institute offers direct admission to the first-rank holders of central and state education boards across India. Those who have been given admission, must report to the allotted institute as per the deadline.

Candidates who appeared for their qualifying exam from the Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) stream will be considered for admission to any of the first-degree programmes of his/her choice. The first rank holder of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) stream will be considered for admission to B.Pharm. or B.E. Environmental and Sustainability Engineering programme only.

The step-by-step process to apply for the BITS Direct admission scheme to board toppers is given below,

• Visit the official BITS admission website, admissions.bits-pilani.ac.in.
• Click on the Board Toppers Admission Scheme application link.
• Create a fresh login account using a valid email ID and mobile number.
• Fill in the form with all the details asked.
• Scan and upload the documents.
• Pay the application fee through online mode such as credit/debit cards, net banking, or UPI.
• Check all the details and submit.

BITS Pilani Direct Topper Admission Scheme: Eligibility Criteria

A topper who seeks admission under this scheme must fulfil the following criteria:

a) The topper must have taken Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology subjects in 12th class examination and

b) He/She has obtained the highest aggregate percentage of marks in the 12th class in 2026 from the Board. For calculating the aggregate percentage, the aggregate marks should include the marks of PCM and /or Biology subjects in addition to other subjects which are required to pass the 12th class examination from the Board under consideration. Further, the Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology subject marks should be included in the aggregate, irrespective of whether the Physics, Chemistry, and
Mathematics/Biology subjects are identified as main/optional/elective in his marksheet(s).

c) This offer of admission is open only to the student who has obtained the first rank in the board as per the announcement by the Board. If more than one candidate has been declared as the first rank holder by a Board, BITS Pilani will offer admission to a maximum of 4 candidates only under this scheme. If there are more than four candidates declared as first rank holders by a Board, the authoties will apply a tie-breaking criteria.

BITS Pilani Direct Admission Programme Allocations

BITS Pilani has laid out clear guidelines regarding how board toppers from different academic streams will be integrated into their campuses. The eligibility is broadly split into two major streams:

Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) Toppers

First-rank holders from the PCM stream are given the widest flexibility. They will be considered for direct admission across all integrated first-degree courses offered by BITS Pilani. This includes all branches of Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) and Integrated Master of Science (M.Sc.) programs across the Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad campuses.

Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) Toppers

Toppers from the PCB stream are also highly valued but are directed toward specialised programmes that align with their foundational knowledge. First-rank holders with a biology background will be considered for admission into the following specific programmes:

• B. Pharm. (Bachelor of Pharmacy)
• B.E. Environmental and Sustainability Engineering
• M.Sc. Biological Sciences

Tie-Breaking Criteria for BITS Direct Admission Scheme

If a board declares more than one first-rank holder, BITS Pilani will admit a maximum of 4 candidates under this scheme. If there are more than 4 toppers, ties will be systematically broken using the following criteria

Note: If a tie still persists after all 5 steps, the Admission Committee reserves the right to introduce additional criteria, which may include a written test.

BITS Pilani Direct Admission: Required Documents & Verification

Applicants must submit their 12th-grade mark sheet alongside an official letter from their Board explicitly declaring them as the first-rank topper in their stream. BITS Pilani will verify the data independently, they rely strictly on data provided by the boards. If a board's data is insufficient or inconclusive before the deadline, the university may choose not to make any admission offers for that specific board. In all unique or disputed cases, the decision of the Vice Chancellor will be final and binding.
