The BITS Admission Test (BITSAT) is a computer-based entrance examination for admission to undergraduate programmes at BITS Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad campuses. Chemistry is an important section of the exam, with questions covering physical, inorganic and organic chemistry.
BITSAT Chemistry Question Papers: Candidates preparing for BITSAT 2027 can use previous-year question papers, chapter-wise practice questions and mock tests to understand the exam pattern and improve their preparation. Practising chemistry questions under a time limit can also help candidates improve their speed and accuracy. BITS Pilani does not officially provide BITSAT previous year question papers or sample papers.
The Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test (BITSAT) is a computer-based examination with a total duration of 3 hours for the complete test. The Chemistry section consists of 30 multiple-choice questions, contributing a total of 90 marks to the exam. In this section, candidates are awarded 3 marks for every correct answer, while 1 mark is deducted for each incorrect response. The authorities will conduct BITSAT 2027 in two sessions- April and May.

How to Prepare for BITSAT Chemistry Paper?
A planned preparation strategy can help candidates cover the syllabus and improve their performance in the Chemistry section.
- Complete the syllabus: Start by checking every topic in the official syllabus. Divide the chapters into physical, inorganic and organic chemistry, and prepare a revision schedule based on your current level of preparation.
- Practise numerical questions: Physical Chemistry requires a clear understanding of concepts, formulas and calculations. Practise questions on mole concept, equilibrium, thermodynamics, solutions and other numerical topics included in the syllabus.
- Revise reactions and concepts: For Organic Chemistry, maintain a revision sheet containing important reactions, reagents, reaction conditions and conversions. For Inorganic Chemistry, revise chemical properties, periodic trends and coordination compounds regularly.
- Solve previous-year questions: Attempt chapter-wise questions after completing each topic. Once you have covered a substantial part of the syllabus, solve mixed Chemistry question sets to test your understanding across different chapters.
- Attempt timed mock tests: BITSAT is a speed-based examination. Practise solving 30 Chemistry questions within a planned time limit, then review your answers to identify calculation errors, conceptual gaps and questions that took too long.
- Avoid blind guessing: BITSAT awards three marks for a correct answer and deducts one mark for an incorrect answer. Candidates should assess their confidence before attempting doubtful questions instead of guessing without a reason.
BITSAT Chemistry Question Paper: Benefits of Solving PYQs
Practising previous-year and memory-based questions can help candidates in several ways:
- Understand question formats: Learn how multiple-choice questions are framed across different Chemistry topics.
- Identify weak areas: Find chapters that require more revision or additional practice.
- Improve speed: Develop the ability to solve questions within a limited time.
- Revise important concepts: Use questions to test whether formulas, reactions and concepts can be applied correctly.
- Evaluate preparation: Track accuracy and review mistakes during mock tests.
Commonly asked questions
BITSAT mock test should be used so that candidates can understand exam pattern. Mock tests will also help students know important topics and questions. Another advantage of mock test is that students can work on their time management skills and be well prepared for exam.
The BITSAT question paper is divided into four section. For the Mathematics/Biology section, there will be 40 questions. Physics and Chemistry will have 30 questions in each section. Logical Reasoning will have 20 and English Proficiency will have 10 questions. There will 130 questions in the question paper.
In BITSAT, students have to answer 130 objective questions. Each question will have four options. Correct one has to be selected. If all questions are finished before time, then additional 12 questions will be given to students to solve for extra marks.
Students will be given 12 additional questions if they finish all 130 questions within 3 hours. Three questions will be available from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology and Logical Reasoning. Students will not be able to go back to previously answered 130 questions, once they start solving additional questions.
Commonly asked questions
Students will not be given any extra time to complete 12 additional questions in BITSAT paper. Additional questions have to be solved within 3 hours. These will only be provided if students complete 130 original questions before exam ends.
