About GATE Question Paper PDF

The question paper shall have total of 65 questions wherein 10 questions will be of General Aptitude and the remaining 55 questions will be from concerned subject. The exam will be conducted for maximum of 100 marks and 3 hours will be the time span to solve the total questions. GATE CE question paper 2021 shall incorporate Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), Multiple Select Questions (MSQ) and/or Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions.

Q:   Is it necessary for a candidate to attempt all questions in GATE?
A:

No, it is not mandatory to attempt all questions in GATE. Attempt only those which you are sure of, as the exam follows negative marking. However, you can still put some guesswork for NATs and MSQs, as there is no negative marking for this. 

Negative marking is only applicable on MCQ questions. where 1/3rd mark will be deducted for 1 mark question and 2/3rd mark will be deducted for 2-mark question.

Q:   Are questions based on Engineering Mathematics asked in every GATE paper?
A:
No, questions based on Engineering Mathematics are not asked in every GATE paper. Question papers with codes AR, CY, EY, GG, M.A. PH, and XL do not consist of Engineering Mathematics questions. Engineering Mathematics and General Aptitude are the compulsory sections, which include 15% weightage each in total marks in GATE papers with codes AE, AG, BT, CE, CH, CS EC, EE, IN ME, MN, MT, PE, PI TF, and XE. Have a look at the highlights of the GATE Exam Pattern 2024. The GATE Exam 2024 will be conducted in a Computer Based Test Mode. The duration of the GATE 2024 exam will be three hours. The GATE 2024 exam will consist of 65 questions. The total marks for the GATE exam are 100. Questions asked in the GATE exam will be related to the GATE exam syllabus. As per the GATE 2-24 exam pattern, two types of questions, namely Multiple Choice Questions and Numerical Answer Type Questions will be asked. In MCQs, candidates need to select one answer from the four options given. In NAT questions, candidates have to enter the correct answer via the virtual keyboard. Candidates need to graduate from BTech at IIT Dhanbad with a minimum GPA of 8.0 or above to qualify for M.Tech admissions without GATE. Only the candidates who clear BTech from IIT Dhanbad are allowed admissions without GATE into M.Tech at II Dhanbad with the aforementioned score.

No, the GATE 2026 has already been concluded for IIT Dhanbad M.Tech admissions. The GATE 2026 registrations are closed in the month of October. Candidates who have appeared for GATE will need to wait for all merit-lists to be revealed.

The PhD admissions to the Institute Assistantship courses at IIT Guwahati require candidates to appear for the GATE or CEED. 

However, PhD admissions to the other categories of PhD courses at IIT Guwahati are not decided on the basis of the aforementioned entrance exams scores.

Bachelor's degree holder from IITs with a CGPA of 8.0 or above can get direct admission in M.Tech programme of IIT Dhanbad without GATE. The respective department reviews such applications and seats for such aspirants are supernumerary.

Yes, you can get M.Tech admission without a GATE  in Bangalore colleges through institute specific entrance exams. The seats are sponsored in IITs and NITS. Private and state universities also offer direct admissions via their own tests or merit.
