Shiksha spoke to a bunch of students who appeared for JEE Main 2018 on April 8. According to Rwit Panda, a student of DPS R.K.Puram, the exam was a bit difficult and quite lengthy as compared to last year. He said, " Maths took a lot of time so it was the toughest section for me. On the other hand, Chemistry as usual, was the easiest and Physics was of moderate level. Out of 90 questions, I could solve around 84 questions".
Speaking about section-wise weightage, he shared, " I think, all the topics across all the three subjects were given equal weightage. Howver, questions from topics like Set Theory, Progression, and Conic Sections were lengthy as compared to others".
Vikas Chaudhary who took the exam for the second time said, "Maths is my weakest point and I found it to be tough and lengthy. The exam was neither very easy nor very tough. Chemistry was the easiest while Physics was of moderate level. I was able to solve 80% of the questions though. Let's hope for the best".
A student of Delhi Scottish School, Aditi Agarwal agreed to the fact the paper this year was tougher than 2017. She said, " According to me the paper had a lot of suprises and I am not satisfied with my performance. I had prepare well for numericals but I guess I lagged behind in the theory part of it. I was able to solve around 60 out of 90 questions in the exam".
Another enginering aspirant, Ayush Rai, a student of Father Agnel School is sure of securing anything above 200. He said, " Even though Maths was lenghthy and the most difficult amongst all the three sections, I am sure to get anything above 200 marks in JEE Main. Overall, I found the exam to be easy. In Mathematics, I think more weightage was given to topics like Conic Sections and Integration".
Contradicting most of the students who found Mathematics to be the toughest section of the exam, Ramanpreet Singh shared, " Most of the my friends found Mathematics to be toughest section. However, for me Chemistry was the most difficult. Maths and Physics was at par in terms of difficulty level. I could solve around 75% of the questions across sections. I hope the cut-offs are low this year.
