JEE Main 2026 April Exam: Preparation Tips

  • The most important thing is to have a clear understanding of the JEE Main Syllabus during the preparation journey. The candidate should be well versed in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in classes 11 and 12.
  • The candidate can also segregate the JEE Main Syllabus and divide topics into easy, tough, and very tough. This will help to make plans for the preparation of JEE Main. Also, segregate topics in each subject into classes 11 and 12 to allow for common preparation for both board and entrance exams.
  • Focus on such topics first that are challenging and also crucial topics that carry a lot of weight in the JEE Mains exam. After that, continue to review the lighter subjects to empower your remembrance.
  • After understanding, memorise the key principles, concepts, and formulas.
  • Revision also plays an important role. It should be part of the study plan so that students do not miss any topics.
  • While studying, students can make short notes, which will help with quick revision. Also, jot down any concepts or questions that you are having difficulty understanding so that they can be discussed with the instructor later.
  • Quick breaks are also necessary. Take a 5- to 10-minute break in the middle of an hour-long study session. This will keep the mind active and enhance the regaining power.
  • It is advised not to study overnight, as a sleep routine will get disturbed and make a person lethargic.
  • Students can take mock tests, which will help them understand the JEE Main question paper pattern. Also, students will improve their accuracy and speed.
  • Clear doubts as early as possible so that more and more topics can be covered with clear understanding.
  • Students must avoid any sources of distraction, like social networking sites, etc.
  • Regularly study and don't skip the timetable.
  • It is an old saying that 'Heath is Wealth'. Medidation, yoga, or any form of physical exercise and healthy food also boost students, give them strength, confidence, and peace of mind.
  • A power nap can also be beneficial for the brain after long study sessions.
  • Practice time management, as it will help you utilise three hours in the exam hall effectively without anxiety.
  • At last, nothing is difficult. Matter is the right direction, the correct path, and proper study with time management.

JEE Main 2026 April Exam: Things To Be Avoided During Preparation

Social Media, Mobile Phones, and the Internet: New gadgets may be a boon for learners, but at the same time, they can also be one of the main causes of distraction for the students during the time of preparation.

Demotivation: Low mock test scores gained by students may lead to demotivation and disrupt focus. But it is a method of learning through errors. Practice tests to evaluate your understanding of the concepts.

Procrastination: Constantly, delaying work can put a blockage on studying and become a burden as time passes. Therefore, it is advised for students to complete the preparation daily.

Referring to too many books: Students should not refer to too many books. It is important for the students to identify those books that will help them in their JEE Main preparation in the best way and learn from those books only.

Memorising without understanding the concepts: Instead of memorising, students should understand the concept and spend more time on it. With the help of concepts, students will be able to solve numerical problems and use the appropriate formulas as a result.

JEE Main 2026 Exam Pattern

Students who want to take the JEE Main 2026 April exam must be aware of the exam pattern. This will not only help to understand the JEE Main Examination but also help in preparation. JEE Main 2026 Preparation Tips FAQs

Q. When will the JEE Main 2026 April exam be conducted?

A. The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the JEE Main 2026 session 2 exam from April 2 to 9.

Q. Is it enough to study from the NCERT textbook to clear the JEE Main 2026 April exam?

A. NCERT books are one of the best books  to clear the JEE Main exam. Several students who secured top ranks in previous years in JEE Mains as well as JEE Advanced had pointed that they studied through NCERT books. The best part of studying NCERT is that they are easy to understand, have lots of examples to understand the topics and also have numerical questions to evaluate the performance. NCERT books provide a base for competetive exams. Students who rely only on NCERT books for clearing JEE Mains have fair chance to getting a good score, however, students targeting 99-100 percentile are advised to refer additional books beside NCERTs.

Q. Why JEE Main is the toughest engineering exam?

A. The JEE Main Exam is believed to be one of the toughest exams because of the high level of competition. Every year, approximately 10 lakh students appear for JEE Main, out of which only 2.5 lakh qualify for JEE Advanced annually. The exam also holds importance because seats are limited and the syllabus is vast. However, for a student who hasn't started his or her preparation for JEE, it is tough. Difficulty level also depends on the factor of how much effort a student has put into preparation. Nothing is difficult to achieve; what is important is the right path, dedication, time management, and hard work.

Q. Is JEE Main 2026 Syllabus reduced?

A. NTA has released the JEE Main 2026 syllabus. There is no change in the syllabus this year. The NTA deleted a fe topics from syllabus of JEE Mains in 2024. The deleted topics are

Mathematics: Mathematical Induction and Mathematical Reasoning units have been removed from the syllabus of Mathematics.
Physics: In Physics, Communication Device units has been removed from the syllabus
Chemistry: Surface Chemistry, States of Matter, General Principles and Processes of Isolation of Metals, s-block elements, Hydrogen, Environmental Chemistry, Alcohol Phenol and Ether, Polymers chapters have been removed.

Q. How should a candidate prepare for JEE Mains and Advanced together?

A. A student can prepare for both JEE Mains and Advanced together, but as per the experts, it is not a wise idea to prepare together for both exams. Both exams have a different syllabus, exam pattern, and difficulty level. The difficulty level of the JEE Advanced exam is higher than the JEE Mains. If a student prepares for both exams together, then he or she should make a list of topics that are asked in JEE Main and in Advanced.
