Q: How does it feel being the SRMJEEE 2015 topper with an AIR 3?
It is a good feeling. I was not expecting such a good rank. I think my hard work paid off.
Q: So, could you tell us your preparation strategy that helped you crack SRMJEEE 2015?
I did not do anything special, I just did regular practice. I tried to study in the right frame of mind, having faith in my abilities and kept working consistently for the past two years.
Q: Did you taking any coaching for this exam?
No, I did not take any special coaching for SRMJEEE.
Q: What was your overall score? Subject wise marks?
Actually, I do not have any idea. They did not release any answer key. So, I do not have any idea about the marks and all. Even on my result card, only my name, registration number and rank were mentioned. No marks were written.
Q: What study plan did you follow for this exam?
I did not have any specific study plan for this engineering entrance exam. I just did normal studies for the past two years. My schedule was that I used to get up early in the morning at around 6 am and used to start studying. But I think regular breaks are a must and they helped me a lot. I did not overburden myself. Whenever I felt I needed change, I took a break to relax.
I feel that regular practice is a key. You cannot achieve results by just studying for 15-20 days or a month, you have to practice regularly.
For the past two years, I made it a point to study 4-5 hours daily and that helped me.
Q: Which SRM campus do you aim to join?
I have not thought about that yet.
Q: Which stream do you plan to opt for and why?
I am interested in pursuing Aeronautics or Computer Science. I am really fascinated with Space and that is why I want to study Aeronautics, however, I am also thinking about Computer Science because it is a good career opportunity. So, I will think it through a bit more before taking the final decision.
Q: Tell us about your family background and schooling?
I have studied from St. Xavier’s Collegiate School, Kolkata and most of the members in my family are from the commerce background. My father is a Chartered Accountant.
Q: What are your hobbies?
I like reading books, reading a newspaper is compulsory every morning. I love watching cricket, I follow the matches regularly. I like playing badminton.
Q: What score/marks are you expecting in your boards?
I do not have any expectations. I think expectations are a source of despair. So, I do not keep any expectations.
Q: What other engineering entrance exams did you take or are planning to take?
Yes, I appeared for JEE Main and VITEEE. In JEE Main, I got 234 and in VITEEE, I got 2223 rank.
Q: Any tips for students who are planning to take the exam next year?
My advice would be that study regularly and whenever you study, just try and concentrate on what you are studying. I feel that an hour of concentrated study is much better than two hours of just opening the book and staring at it.
Q: What are your plans for the future?
I want to pursue Aeronautical engineering as I am very fascinated with outer space. I want to do something in Astrophysics. At present, this is something I am very passionate about but I do not know what the future holds.
